Kerbol is dying. Thousands of years after first venturing into space, Kerbalkind finds itself on the brink of extinction. On a newly terraformed Duna, it rests on the shoulders of a single space agency to reach for the stars once more and find a new home.
Beyond Kerbol is a career mode series following on from Endurance and set in the After Kerbin planet overhaul. The aim is to assemble a vast fusion powered spacecraft to colonise another solar system and save Kerbalkind. The game is in version 1.7.3 and uses the Making History and Breaking Ground expansions.

@@DS-tv2fi late reply but his doesn't go as far. I love the man, it's thanks to him that i got into KSP and reignited mynpassion for space but his doesn't go beyong finding a big planet landing and that's it. Mind you, could be because the mod for interstellar was newer so maybe not much to do afterwards. His seties finished in early 2015 so over 5 yeara ago.
I wished Scott got this far.

There was a man who filmed a *literal fleet* of these interstellar ships burning for Proxima Centauri, though he didnt actually record the whole journey, his cinematic was beautiful.

Beardy, "I'm just going to send my Kerbols off to another star system to start the kolonization of the galaxy real quick."
Beardy 5 minutes later, "So I'm also going to be building a city in the atmosphere of a gas giant to mine for hydrogen so we can have antimatter powered vehicles soon."
Beardy a few stunned moments later, "Since KSP 2 has been delayed I'm just going to quickly go ahead and colonize multiple star systems pushing both KSP 1 and my computer hardware to the limits, using antimatter propulsion to fuel crafts containing hundreds of Kerbals in all across light-years in order to build self-sufficient colonies."

@@averagepeopleproductions7023 to be fair, it hasn't happened yet and as from someone from even further in the future, the basic Kerbal loop is now fine, not as great as the original game but no longer the huge piece of shit it was on Early Access start

Kerbol was a red dwarf. Now is a yellow dwarf (bit smaller than the sun on HSP)

One time my Eve lander got krakened out and some of it's debris went up to 4% of the speed of light.
Edit: For those curious, i did it by accidentally loading a quicksave where the parachutes were already open
Oh and btw, i never recovered the one kerbal that I parachuted down on Eve's surface

I can't help visualizing that Katrina was playing Magic Carpet Ride on full blast on the Clarke's PA systems the entire time while you were explaining the ship's various components and their purposes.
Been here since day one! Started watching in my first year of uni and now I have almost graduated. When the exams get tough and the assignments keep on comming I come to this channel for procrastination, perhaps it is good that you don't upload often or else I probably wouldn't have the grades I have now. without you I don't know how I would've kept my sanity.

I watched almost 4 seasons from the expanse
The thing I like the most in it is the fusion technology, realistic demonstration of orbital mechanics, spaceflight and even combat, no FTL, only fusion
I am big fan of fusion technologies, I read a lot about it, even when I am not a rocket scientist or anything like that
With the things I read I tried to make a rocket concept with three of those thermal jet engines used in the Condor in KSP with Magnetized Target Fusion Reactors(using LH2 or Liquid CO2, idk what other fuels can be used for this kind of rocket), but well with little success, because I am not a rocket scientist, just a fan of spaceflight.
But I tried it at least
Now I feel myself a bit smarter.
The Expanse really inspired me in ksp too. I finally downloaded a ton of mods and I'm starting from unmanned and trying to build a interstellar empire
If you think fusion is awesom, wait to antimatter or neutronium... And dont even say kuggerblzes!
I actually saw this episode first (youtube algorithms are weird), and I was so enchanted I went back and have binged the whole series (except for the livestream) in one day. This is absolutely amazing content, and you make it look so easy (myself, being very much not a rocket scientist, struggle to get to the Mun and back).
As an idea for the far future, perhaps a colony ship that is JUST for refugees? Like when the new colony is established, see how many people you can fit onto one ship safely when you don't have to worry about miners and surveyors and colony infrastructure? Just a thought, really enjoying this, definitely subscribing for more!
Weird little off topic thing I got here: I just started playing a game called elite dangerous (the 300 billion star system, 1:1 milky way model one), and (after a bit of grinding) decided to go visit Betelgeuse. To put it simply, I was not prepared for the sheer SIZE of that plasma puff. The thing has a radius around 2,000 light seconds and a corona of another 500 light seconds in game. (earth is around 8 light minutes or 480 light seconds from the sun to give you perspective). Then I see you’ve made a interstellar mission and go to watch it, see archangel, and get a crazy idea. Could it be possible to mod a (habitable) Betelgeuse system into the game? (Aside from the obvious problems with this, like the flare point and whatnot which is already there with archangel). Could you try and ask gameslinx or someone if its feasible? Just an idea.

I mean TECHNICALLY if the base on Fust becomes efficient enough to refuel the Clarke, it doesn't have to be a one-way trip....just, you know, beyond the limits of sanity
ThatGuyFromCanada well yeah they could refuel the Clarke and send it back but I don’t see why they would. The whole point of this mission is to evacuate the kerbals to a new home since Solitude is rapidly becoming uninhabitable

Reminded me of the feeling I got watching the setup to the Jupiter mission in Planetes anime. Further but smaller. The ship in that anime was fusion too, they called it the Von Braun.
This is turning into a very Star Wars-esque style expedition. Might as well have named the celestial bodies Hoth, Mon Cala, Tatooine, and Bespin!

For the next gen starship should use antimatter plasma core reactor (or positron if not enough tech) for power and the Unobtusstard engine (5/12unobtanium, 7/12 busstard engine) this beast uses sH2 and has twice the Isp as OPdalus!

4 * 10⁹ Kerbal/82 * 30 minutes (82 as you could theoretically launch two shuttles). That would take an equiv. of 2784 years (our time scale) to evacuate everyone. Also you have to implement a colony ship every 1/2 hour.
All i gotta say ( and this is me kinda begging ) BEARDY Please dont make us wait for another whole week for the next episode
man this is crazy to think how far this series has come, most big projects like this end before anything interesting happens

A question: does realplume work with the inertial confinement fusion drive? Because the little blue stream going out of that huge bell seems sad. Realplume makes space rocket exhaust look hot.
I really hope KSP2 will be significantly more optimized for larger ships because they're going to be so much more prominent in it
I wouldn't be shocked if some aspect of the current delays are from optimizing

@TheBeardyPenguin What version of the game you have to get all these mods working?
You say that your circular heatshield is to protect from the neutron radiation from the engine but you're using Deuterium+Helium3 as your fusion fuel. That is the only fuel combo that does NOT produce neutrons during fusion (which is why it is such an attractive choice). If you were to use a neutron shield (and distance) like you do on the Clark it would be better to use Deuterium+Tritium for your fusion. It's easier, cheaper and gives you a bigger kick.
That's just a note for the realism side of things.
