- A bunch of the great Japanese-made Spydercos are arriving in Burgundy and Micro-Melt PD#1 Steel. A good chance to pick up some knives on the wishlist, now with a unique color and blade steel!

Abandoning the "gotta catch em all" Pokemon approach to steels has made me the happiest with my collection that ive been in probably a decade.
Good on Spyderco for coming out with a "new model" though, I guess...
CTS PD#1 is Carpenter's version of CPM Cru-Wear.
What's the difference? I mean shouldn't they just released more cru-wear
@@chriselliott484 Think of the different steel manufacturers as bakers. Many bakers have the same recipes, but they all have their slight twist on it👍🏻
It's like how Leatherman and Victorinox cram 15 useless tools in so they can say "25 functions."
Now Eric gets to say in his next interview, "Spyderco has released 30 new models this year" when in reality they've released maaaybe a half dozen.
Picked up an Endura from GP Knives and i agree its way more purple than burgandy. Still very happy to have a Cruwear analog in the Endura platform.
Welcome back Gerald, you'll love this steel. I beat the hell out of it for 3 weeks and still sharp. 😊
That burgundy is beautiful. One of Spyderco’s best FRN colors so far.
I've just ordered the Police version of this, I've only found one retailer here in England, that carries these sprint runs, so I'll be getting a fairly unique knife,, can't wait for it to arrive,, great video,, thanks,, 👍
I just picked one up from knivesplus. Boi , did it come with alot of oil 😅. Probably the sharpest Spyderco I've got out of box. Cuts like a laser. I like the Burgundy color alot. It matches my Burgundy micarta & Cruwear Benchmade mini Adamas Shot Show Edition. And yes , Cts-Pd#1 is the Carpenter Steel equivalent to Cpm Cruwear from Crucible. And I'm very glad they chose the black Ti nitride coating on the blade. I probably would have passed on it if it were a satin finished blade. The Black & Burgundy looks very cool 😎.
Just ordered this one! Why are always the best color combinations sprint runs or exclusives 😢
I got one from knife works that came in Saturday. Really pleased with it!
National knives has them in stock now. 👍🏻 The Endura and Endela anyway. Just ordered the Endura and really wanting the police 4 pd#1. Great model
I’m so glad I found this video. Mine comes in Thursday and I’m really excited now that I see what the color really looks like
Just ordered the pd1 delica on REC. Cant wait! Was hoping to hold out for the dragonfly but saw the delica and had to act!
the TNP endura is sweeeeet!
Thank you for filming this video so quickly! 😎
Very similar to Cru-wear. The difference is that PD1 has Silicon, which has a positive effect on toughness and wear resistance. That is, as I understand it, PD1 is a little tougher than Cru-wear.
Both have silicon in their composition. Its just a higher ratio of silicon and has manganese added
I love the Goddard. It is super light with plenty of blade. Just got the police in pd1, haven’t used the factory blade up yet, itching to sharpen it.
Hell ya. I've been wanting one of these. They've done PD#1 before
Just ordered a police sprint!
It really does look dark red (preferred) in the pics, but Joker suit purple in videos. Still like it but if I miss this sprint run I won’t be mad.
Was just looking at an endela for the exact reason. Its supposed to be like cruwear, i really like the frn seki models, dont have an endela theres a sprint coming up so maybe ill grab that. Thanks for showing!
definitely purple.
I bought the Endela in this configuration last month.
nice knife, bummed they coated it ,means 1 to 2 pts lower rc value....Spyderco already on the low end rc value for some of their knives
Are they doing the ladybug?

How corrosion resistant is this steel??
I am not the expert, but this knife does include the little card with the carbon steel warning in the box. Meaning it is not as stainless as some steels.
Mine is definitely not purple lol
It’s a different color than the ‘plum’ one shown here?
@gi_nattak it's the same thing but mine is definitely not purple lol
@@1quickcobra It's definitely not magenta either though :D
I want both but should I get the Endela first or the Endura first
If I had to choose between the two, the Endura.
I personally like the blade shape better on the endela as opposed to the endura, has more belly.
@@Huero87 I enddd up buying both lol
Any chances to have a para 3 in this pd1?
I don't think in this run. It seems only the Japanese models. The Para 3 is USA made I think.
@@CoyoteEDC thank you man!
Pricing has been rediculous imho. So much money in marketing. Just wont open the wallet for spyderco or benchmade. Thanks for the video though
I agree, but IMO I think bench made is definitely overpriced and I think Spyderco is just starting to be overpriced but some of their knives are still priced really well
Its not meant to be a production run. Sprints are often experimental steels that are available for the nerds like me who care about the steel. Spyderco has a cruwear production run going with micarta scales for around 200-260 depending on your model. I dont know many other usa made knives made with those materials at this cost
Get a manix 2 LW in CPM-M4 on blade hq for $135. The CTS-BD1 base version is more expensive 😂
I think that's a stainless version of maxamet🤔🤔🤔
Pd#1 is basically an analog of Cpm CruWear. But by Carpenter.
