My father spent 2 years in Ceausescu's jail. His crime was to be too open minded for a university professor. Then he escaped România in pretty harsh conditions and made a new life in Belgium where he landed with only the clothes he had on. So when I was a kid in the 80s, România was the forbidden land for me. Until the Revolution... Now, I've explored my "second country", as I name it. And I'm studying hard Romanian language. Eventhough I'm not fluent at Romanian, it is of no importance. Cause when I see the sun rise over Carpatian mountains, I feel it deep inside my guts. And I feel the "Dor". What my Brazilian wife calls "Saudade". That strange mix of emotions that makes you wanna cry and smile all at once while contemplating the country. I smile for what I know about my România. And I cry for what I ignore. For what has been stolen to me. But my wife got it right when she saw that Carpatian village where my ancestors lived. She loved the people, the food, the music and the landscape. And she said: "There is much Saudade here."
@@Funkenmunken just finished and submitted the subtitles for this video using the link you posted in the comment above. I hope people will get a better understanding of the lyrics and song now. Best of luck! Sanatate! PS. the title should be "Nicolae Neacșu (Taraf de Haidouks) - Balada Conducătorului" not Conducatorolui ;)
