  • Bonjour!
    I have been somewhat taking a break from filming and posting, simply because we've been so busy with daily life! And we were in The Netherlands to celebrate my parents' wedding anniversary.
    So catching up this week! I am taking you to our thrift store for some brocante hunting and to our village's celebrations of 14 juillet (Bastille day).
    I really try to upload a video as often as I can, but can't always make it. Thank you for being here, for sharing your comments and for supporting my work!
    Love from France,
    Marloes

    OMG! My grandma was obsessed with that Trois Cafés Gourmands song last summer! I remember one summer my grand-uncle and some neighbors got drunk and started singing a colorful song: Bali Balo. It was my first time hearing it and my sister and I almost died of laughter, our American ears couldn;t believe it. The funniest part is that it was an informal village fête on the day of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary!!!! 🤣 "Ah, ah, oui mais vraiment Bali Balo est un salaud!" 🤣🤣

    Lately, I have been struggling with the purpose of my life. Not going to life, we live in a strange world, but also very beautiful because now I got to discover your videos that are so beautiful and inspirational. It's very soothing and relaxing to watch your artistic expressions through this and feel empowered by your creativity. Thank you so much for brining joy into the world and wishing you the best

    Nothing says French like a lunch at your local neighborhood 16th century château, of course by a pond worthy of a Monet painting...wow.

      @FrenchCountryLife  Před 2 lety +4

      I know! I actually talked about Monet and his house and garden in Giverny and showed my son a picture of the painting! I think the lilies should be in full bloom by now, when we saw them we said to each other “we should come back soon to see what this looks like when they’re in full bloom!”

    Brings me so much joy to see your vlogs. The village get togethers remind me of our Sunday visits to my grandparents farm in Canada with all my Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. My grandmother singing, "les chanson a repond," and the sheer joy of being surrounded by love! I hope you can feel my heartfelt thanks for sharing your world with the world. ❤

    Love watching your videos. Makes me really want to come visit France again. Our parent immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands in the 50s and we have been back to visit relatives a few times. History in Europe is amazing and we really enjoyed visiting Paris, but see we need to rent a car and tour around the country. I love your thrifting segments..and I see pieces that remind me of Omas' house in Zwolle. Unfortunately my parents had to leave many beautiful things behind when they moved to Canada. Congratulations to your parents on their anniversary. Always looking forward to your next video, Marloes! 😃👋🇨🇦

      Yes you definitely should! Around here there are more and more places that have a “fripes” corner, like cafés that will have a rack with some vintage clothes that they sell! I donate a lot to Enmaüs but honestly have never looked at the clothes there… I’ll go with you when you’re here next or when I’m in Provence next!

    • @FrenchCountryLife
      @FrenchCountryLife  Před 2 lety

      Honestly, I just buy what I like. I am not an antiques expert or lover but love brocante, which is more about vintage objects that don’t necessarily have high value (money) but more an emotional value. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so just buy what makes you happy! At least, that is how I do it!

    What is the name of the village where that emmaus is? I remember all the glassware outside and couldn't figure out how it survived the rain and wind and why they wouldn't put it inside. Looks familiar. I would have purchased the soup tureen with the monogram.
