  • Welcome on another short CRJ hop, this time from Denver to Aspen!
    If you're wondering about the high rate of descend on final: We were a little high intially indeed and the 6,5° Glideslope just makes things interesting!
    At the ~170kt GS we were doing the expected rate of descent would have been somehwere around 2000fpm on final, so since I aimed to fly it into the PAPIs we got a bit more than that.
    Of course it was a pretty high rate there, but since the focus was on FS2Crew on this video I decided I'd just continue the approach - it is a flight sim after all (ok... and I had to go to work 5 minutes after I finished the recording).

    Great video Emi. Can you fly an example of an offset ILS and show the proper way to approach this (especially in low visibility)? One such example would be KFLG rwy 21. KPHX - KFLG is a real world daily route on American eagle using the CRJ. Very short route .

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  Před rokem

      Hi, if you look at the charts you'll find you'll need at least half a statue mile visibility and the AP must not be used for the last 600ft on the approach. Once you're visua with the runway: Disconnect the AP, let the PM recycle the FD's and align the plane with the centerline.

    • @jeffcupido4110

    Didn’t fs2crew reverse your selection for voices, i.e. the captain was the female voice and the FO the male voice (I believe you had it set the other way around)? Great video as always, fs2crew seems to add a lot of realism/convenience to the sim!

      That is what he selected. Clearly visible when he had the options menu open. Now whether he did that on purpose to further disconect his brain from learning wrong SOP's, or whether he made a mistake only he can answer. ;)

    I have FS2crew for the CRJ. I’m sure it’s fairly accurate but I recently purchased the FSFO version for the CRJ and find it so much easier to use and not as cluttered and at times confusing as the FS2crew. They are both great but I find FSFO much easier to use. Just my thoughts if anyone looking for a FO program. I had Fs2 for the FBW and CRJ but use FSFO now for PMDG, FBW and CRJ and all work great where at times I found that FS2 didn’t as was hard to work out what it needed it its flows. Also great to see you in the CRJ it’s a brilliant regional aircraft to fly.

      I used FSFO a bit in P3D times, but liked FS2Crew way more. But each to their own, I'm sure there's good reasons why there's two addons available for this.

    Mr. Emmanuel, excellent video once again. I have a friend who flies the 700/900. My understanding is real-world this plane doesn't have an autothrottle system. Is that also modeled in this mod? How were you managing speed?

    • @mscigniewrudzinski5053
      @mscigniewrudzinski5053 Před rokem +1

      It's like every other plane with no AT. FLC is the safest mode of climb, with power usually set in MCT. In cruise you set the thrust to keep the desired speed and you keep monitoring, if any changes happen, you adjust. The descent is quite easy too, can be done with flc or VNAV or whatever you please. You keep the throttle near idle. AT comes in very handy during greater workload, or following STARs but it's not necessary.

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  Před rokem +2

      As Mścigniew says, you need to fly it like any plane can be flown: Manually. It doen't take long to get used to how much thrust you roughly need and then you can fly it quite precisely.

      Tbh if you use simbrief it does not take very long. For example the 737 will be able to load all the waipoints and you only have to add inn departure/arrival and sid+star, punch in fuel and cargo (unless you want to keep it stock) and do the initperf.
      The 146 is even quicker.
      In all fairness, once you have done it a few times it just goes very fast if you bypass all the roleplay tests etc

    Ehh fs2crew seems cool. But im a hog. I like to do everything myself. Would be nice maybe in the pmdg dc6 ,which is not a single pilot aircraft at all. It has the flight engineer but it's not as personable as this guy or gal lol.

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  Před rokem +1

      The nice thing is that there are SOPs where you *will* still do most of the stuff yourself. This actually is the case with FS2Crew in the CRJ as you pretty much do the entire preflight and shutdown yourself, the FO will only handle systems when the aircraft is moving and when you should focus on flying the plane.
      The same will be the case in the upcoming SOP2 for the PMDG 737.
