Don't forget to ask every time you are in a doctor's office for samples. Pharmaceutical reps bring meds to doctor's offices all the time. Sometimes it is even over the counter meds like Advil and Mucinex. Ask every time it will help you build up a supply.

That is especially helpful if you are starting a new med to see how you do on them before you have to buy them. I did that with an expensive migraine med (Maxalt) for the first month. But you have to ask. The worst they can say is they don't have any.

Being a medical professional, the generic and name brand medication active ingredients are the same. The difference is the base each active ingredient is mixed with. The name brand uses a higher quality base ingredient that may enhance the active ingredient. Some of the cheaper base ingredients may delay or not assist the active ingredient.

I have been taking renexa since 2004. They have always been yellow. Last Nov. Optum changed to a cheaper product which is blue. Since then I have had more and more episodes of angina to the point where by 5 or 6 am I have to use a sublingual nitro pill to be able to get out of bed. Problems during the day have gotten progressively worse also. I feel like it's the blue pill as opposed to the yellow one. I see my cardiologist Monday. One dr said that I need a stent and I have had a heart attack. I had a quadruple bypass 24 years ago. Just asking for your opinion on those pills. They are supposed to be 1000 mg. Twice a day. I did that for my meds other than Eliquis. That medication is so expensive. It's $600.00 per month and they wanted $17,000.00 for the year. There's no way I could pay that. But they had all my other meds and i ordered them 2 years in a row. So I have a bit of stock now. When I go to my doctors office for a check up 4 times a year. I ask for samples for Eliquis. They give me about 12 boxes, and each box holds, i think, 22 pills. Plus my RX, so I have 96 boxes saved up. Their exp date is 2025 and 2026. Next month I go again and will get 12 more boxes hopefully. My insurance covers 60% after I meet a $2000.00 RX deductible. With eliquis, and my 5 other meds, I meet that deductible in 3 months. But Jan Feb and March, that hits hard in my financial budget. A few bills don't get paid every month, and I catch up later in April may and June. It's pathetic. And there is no generic version. And all the other blood thinners didn't work for me. One landed me in the hospital for almost bleeding out. Eliquis works like a charm for me.

My son has diabetes and a few times this last year, he was told they (the pharmacy) were waiting for his meds. They always order it ahead of time because they know he needs it. I am talking about ozempic. He was on metformin and that was not regulating him at all. His doctor had to adjust his meds, sometimes it worked sometimes it wasn't enough. He does not drink any alcohol, he watches what he eats. His doctor put him on ozempic to see if it would stable his sugar levels. Low and behold, it does. It works really well for him with no side effects. BUT, because of so many people getting it for weight loss, the people that need it to co trol their diabetes, they can't get it and he has waited 2 weeks for a refill. The pharmacy called other branches to see if they had it in stock. So during those 2 weeks, he has to go with the metformin and when ozempic comes into stock, he has to start again with a smaller dose. He said ozempic is like a miracle for him. No unstable sugar levels and only one injection for the week. He checks his blood daily and its in normal range. It was produced for diabetes control.

Some insurance companies won't cover prescriptions from just any pharmacy. I have a single pharmacy that isn't via mail that I can use my insurance for purchases. Can be limiting, but so far, so good, especially since I don't have monthly premiums!

the different dosage is say you take 25 mg of something- if your pill is scored have youf dr give you 50 mg and cut the pill on half…. However, there’s all kinds of issues with that like if the patient accidentally takes a whole pill instead of a half of one I mean there’s all kinds of liability on that and I don’t know if doctors are gonna do that or not I don’t think mine would.

Changing doses means that instead of having a presciption filled for 10 mg 1 tablet twice a day, have the doctor order 5 mg 2 tablets twice a day. That happened to me one time last year. My doctor didn't have a problem doing that. I haven't had a problem since with them being out of stock of the 10 mg.

Dano, I know what you're seeing upsets you. Your viewers feel the pain as you do. This has become so sad and difficult for many. All of us need to change our ways and get in tune with God. This has become a spiritual war. As the saying goes money is the root of all evil. Everybody should do their best to keep their emotions in check. This is how mistakes get compounded. Try not to look at the big picture. Do is the saying goes how do you eat an elephant one bite at a time. Be patient and consider picking up the Bible as we're going to need it. Thank you for being there everyday for your viewers. You are a trooper.

Extra comments - your MD in certain cities doesn't know from anything that there are shortages. This is very specific. Some MD's are great. Some are not. Be prepared to explore other options. And as far as generic Rx meds go - there are only a handful of meds that differ. Insulin. Thyroid. One specific type of pain med. But there are certain people who can't take some generics b/c of the additives.
