      With process printing or CMYK you should always do at least 6-7 sample print to get the inks to build up under the screen for the print to start looking good.

    @Lee Stuart Man what an inspiring channel. I started in one video and now find myself watching most of all your screen printing videos. This is unreal how far you've come in the screen printing game and your own products as well. I am actually astounded. Props to you man, a fellow Canadian boy grinding it out! (Manitoba no less!)
    I've hummed and hawed over starting my own brand, super simple screen printed designs. I bought my own 4 colour Benmar manual press and flash oven. I made a few samples and got pretty excited but then something took me out of it. Maybe I just wasn't confident in my new idea of a brand. But watching your videos has me itching to get back into it and put my full effort. I still wear my samples I made and love repping my own stuff, but I never pursued it.
    Keep doing what you're doing man, love the videos.

      @@leestuart38 Yeah as a photographer it's been one of my dreams to be able to sell my work on shirts and i've been looking for the best way to go about printing them and kinda gave up on silk screen for a while. I worked at a print shop for a bit and it seemed like getting photographic prints like these without some big warehouse that has like 100 screen machines was impossible. Especially on black cuz i've personally seen what happened when we'd try to print photos onto black clothes. It's a whole mess that never turned out well with anything other than monochromatic images. Even more so with a colored/black shirt. So I've been doing heat transfers for a while, which one white shirts i think work really well, but i hate the feel of 3G opaque on the colored/black shirts it just feels like paper. So seriously hopping it goes well i'm excited to learn from your channel about the process!.

    Awesome prints, as for the lpi if you are using 305 mesh wich equals to 120T then you may go up to 60-65 lpi safely, I also use some dual cure chromaline emulsion UDC-HV and it gives me great resolution and detail everytime without any issues, if you have a chance try it and let me know if you liked it, thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  Před 5 lety +1

      Ya I could have definitely used a much higher LPI, I just wanted to keep it simple on my first try so I could get this done. I have some dual cure emulsion here but as we know it has a short shelf life and I didn't want to waste a whole gallon for one job. I think I can probably fine tune it with the photopolymer and get the results I'm after, but an LED exposure unit will still give the best results since there isn't any light scatter. So I'm gonna work hard and get one of those so I can step my game up

And it had some bad magenta fringing going on under certain light or focal lengths. Plus I was pretty pissed from the second I opened the box and found the whole thing was made of the same plastic as their entry level lenses, a $2500 lens shouldn't be like that. The new sigma however is amazing. The IS isn't the best I've seen, but it's a looooot better than not having it. All around this lens kills the canon for what I do

    Hey man, just wondering what type of water pressure you're using for your 305 screens. I use a ryobi electric pressure washer and I back up about 2 feet to wash my higher mesh screen to get it to wash out so that it doesnt wash out the design. Sometimes I have to turn it off and use the water spraying out of the nozzle. Do you have any tips on washing out higher mesh screens?

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  Před 5 lety

      Sounds to me like you might be underexposed if it's washing out that easily. I can hit it pretty hard with the pressure washer before doing any damage to the stencil

    Hey Lee. Shit hot stuff man. May I ask do you use water based or plastisol ink when screen printing. Thanks man

      @leestuart38  Před 5 lety

      Plastisol all day. I tried waterbased for a while and I'm not a fan

    Hi Lee, thank you so much for sharing you experiences. I'm planing to print a very similar job next week with the Wilflex epic process colors and I'm scared a little ;-) I'm wondering if you printed wet on wet or if you flashed in between. I would really appreciate knowing how you did. Thanks again.

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  Před 3 lety

      Always print wet on wet with 4 color process inks. They need to blend to create smooth color transitions.

    Have you tried using one of your printed transparencies for the registration process?

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  Před 5 lety +1

      I always register to a test garment over a transparency, it's much faster and more accurate. I've tried all kinds of ways but for me thats the best one
