  • A Key Biscayne woman helped create a dolphin therapy program in Curacao; her own son emerged from a 16-month coma after swimming with a dolphin.

I've swam with dolphins many times. They're very playful and smart.

They built this facility so that the dolphins remain free, stop being such haters. Dolphins have always had a bond with humans.

David Burton : You are correct! This is why this works! The Free dolphins want to free the " humans! " This is why caging them makes no sense! They seem to function in a therapeutic manner! They do not like "Performing" The dolphin that e joys the disabled person, will shy away. From anyone else!

No you are wrong the dolphins don't really help for therapy it's only for the money and dolphins don't like humans

Right they are still in captivity now for some retarted disabled kids entertainment for the suffering of several dolphins why allow this

I think it's cute how autistic kids can interact with animals who don't speak human.
The dolphins are probably thinking " Aw, special needs children".

I have watch The Cove and I am also disabled myself... legally blind. I find these "dolphin assisted therapy" programs disgust me immensely. They send a very bad message to these disabled kids... a message of entitlement. If you enrol your disabled child in these programs you are effectively telling him that he is entitled to have his disability specific needs met and to hell with the welfare of anyone else. He is taught that he can tread on anyone's toes, and it doesn't matter who gets hurt so long as his disability is taken care of. In short, we are raising spoilt, entitled little brats who just happen to have a disability. We are teaching our disabled kids that the world owes them. Having grown up among disabled people, I am here to tell you it is a very dangerous mistake that, in the end, only leads to a life of loneliness and isolation for that disabled person. I mean let's face it... who wants to be friends with someone with a chip on his shoulder to feed the 5000?
