- Nigel Sylvester might be BMX's most recognizable figure, but his life and career are anything but typical of the sport. With several major endorsements, a clothing line and riding videos featuring the likes of French Montana and Pharrell, he has taken his brand far beyond the bike and garnered criticism for it along the way. Although he's constantly reminded of his presence in a predominately white sport, Nigel has injected his unique personality into BMX and found unparalleled success doing it. In Part 1, we go to Jamaica, Queens to see the people and places that shaped Nigel into the person and rider that he is. Check back next week for Part 2.

he is the most real bmx rider I know. not because of the riding, though he is extremely talented. he is humble about what he does, he doesn't shame how he does his own stuff no matter the hate. he's doing stuff differently and not stopping just because some people want him too. he's amazing

Bmx has always been predominantly white it still is. It's not racism its just blacks tend to play basketball and football. Like how many black dudes you see playing hockey its just a matter of interest but race don't matter in bmx cuz we got that love

Nigel is hated because many riders feel that he's overrated. When you compare him to Chad Kerley, Stevie Churchill, Garrett Reynolds and other known riders; he looks amateurish. I know that Nigel is a street rider, but I think he needs to put on some safety gear and practice transition if he wants to improve. That's what the other pros are doing that he's not!

"BMXs most recognizable figure" BS nigel is one of BMXs most hated riders, this is not my opinion this is fact, most consider him a sellout, and a poser, which seems to be the case from what ive seen, but then again ive never met him so i could be wrong
