An Ancient Farmers Alamanac!!

Runic calendars are ancient. Developed by traditional European tribes people, these were the original Farmer's Almanac. In this video, Permaculture designer Erik Ohlsen shares the story of these farming tools of old.

I love the calendar staves part of this so much. But as a grad student in plant biology, the plant bit at the end made me cringe a little. You should know that despite becoming hugely popular with the public, The Secret Lives of Plants was very poor research with extremely dubious methods that actually put a dent in the reputation of the entire field of plant behavioural studies. It was published in the 1970s, and was never viewed as good science by scientists in the field, it was sensationalized pseudoscience. If you’re curious to read about more recent, less sensationalized research in the field, could I suggest The Light Eaters?
