He shut down Westminster Bridge. However, I remember when the movie ‘28 Days Later’ filmed in London, they didn’t have to shut down places for many of their shots, even though the film makes it look like there is no one in the whole of the city. Epic movie. If you haven’t watched it, watch it.

If anyone remembers the movie 28 days later, the opening scene is shot at the exact same point on Westminster Bridge. So to all those shouting 'special effects' or 'paid', my hunch is the bridge was blocked very early in the morning. And also, just to clarify, Big Ben isn't the name of the tower, it's the name of the bell inside the tower that you hear striking. The tower is called Elizabeth Tower, and the area beyond the bridge is called Westminster Square, where our parliament sits. I imagine they chose this area for the shot for that reason. There was also a terrorist incident which started on the bridge in March 2017, injuring 50 people on the bridge and the fatally stabbed a police officer guarding Westminster Palace. Because of such security issues, the Police can easily block off the bridge for a few minutes filming (especially early in the morning). Strangely the bridge is pretty quiet at 5.00 am, with little commuter and public traffic.
