- Re-uploaded to remove all match footage from European Cup finals after the original was blocked by UEFA, this is a video that came out in 1999 called "Walk On - a celebration of the greatest Liverpool teams of the century".
It's another Liverpool FC history video, but focusing on the period from 1964 to 1990, and with some different footage to the other videos.
Jim Beglin is the narrator. - Sport
Great film. I have been a Liverpool fan all my life and going to matches home and away since 1977. I had the privilege of watching some of the greatest teams this country and Europe has ever seen, created by Shanks, Paisley and then Kenny's team from 1987/89, I thought I would never see a better team or style of play than this side produced until the day I died. Enter Jurgen klopp who has created pure poetry in motion. What we have witnessed since he walked through the doors at Anfield is some of the most fantastic football this great club has ever produced and long may that continue!
Not a mention of the world’s best defender; Alan Hansen. He played as if he had all the time in the world. Class; pure class.
It's nearly 29 seasons since LFC won the league; from Shankly winning the Second Division in 1961-62 to that last title in '90 is 29 seasons. Fourteen league championships in those 29 seasons - won it about once every two years - but, none since. 3 decades of joy, 3 decades of hunger.
LUFC fan. Grew up secretly admiring the liverpool football of the late 70s/early 80s. Kenny was my favorite player and I would put his name down first on my all-time XI sheet. Paul McGrath would go down as Center Half. Roy Keane in midfield ... and then I'd start thinking ... but Kenny was amazing. He could do it all.
Kevin keegan
Shank would have signed Jack Charlton from your great team if he had the money...but the board said no. He loved Leeds Utd as a team.

I love you Liverpool from Brazil support Cruzeiro clube here and love Liverpool since 1995
Nice one..... Paul from Liverpool
Guilherme Lunardi we love you too ♥️
Paul Mc Cabe Paul from Liverpool? Macca is that you??
This is an incredible film. Thank you for uploading
Thanks for making this available, really interesting looking back at the 60's and 70's sides in particular.
You only have one love and Dalglish is mine, was lucky enough to be at Anfield a few times from 1980 to 84 to witness first hand how great he was ...show me someone as happy as the king when he scored
Kenny Dalglish is the greatest single player to ever wear the red kit. Many have come close but none better.
Emlyn Hughes was happier than anyone else when he scored
Such wonderful memories, thank you for reminding me.
awesome!!!! history in the making, great views, games, men, etc. YNWA we are REDS!!!!
Totally brilliant.Forget that it is about LFC but just revel in this beautiful remembrance of times gone by.Really interesting especially the 60's and 70's.Pure gold.
Liverpool!!!
A true liverpool fan you are thanks for this video i cant give a million likes for it but i gave a like already
It’s the first time I’ve seen anyone mention the Reykjavik game. I was there, the Kop were brilliant, chanting Reykjavik. It was as if they wanted to level up the odds. Make it more of a competition. That was until they were cheeky enough to score then the chant for LIVERPOOL was the most deafening I’ve heard.
I’ve often wondered what they thought of that demonstration of sportmanship in Iceland.
Ironically the Cod Wars followed.
@distantvoices ' whip around for the pilot' :-)
Love it! Shanks is the man what a voice! That was the start of everythink keegan abit of a nob by leaving? What was he thinkung coz we won european cup ! Just love liverpool! I was born there and now live in london but im so proud 2b a scouser!😎😍😍😍

This is what makes Liverpool unique. ..the best sporting club in the world...ni one can touch us...we are Liverpool..this means more.
do not even come close to real Madrid or man united in the League
@Billy Bonds come back when you have 9 or 10, 11, 12 or 13
@Billy Bonds hahaha🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@genocidejoeWe are only 2 league titles off Man Utd (soon to be one). Real Madrid are unlikely to ever be caught in European Cup titles - although it is worth bearing in mind that 5 of their 13 came in the very early days of the competition amidst some very questionable circumstances. Take those away and we are only two off them.
We have twice the number of European Cups as Utd, and nearly as many as every other English team put together.
@@Azog150 Questionable circumstances indeed, like finishing FOURTH TWENTY and TWENTY FIVE points behind the Champions for your last two.
Some hilarious stories, just fantastic :)

Liverpool in the 1960's. What a time and there will never be such a time again.
Nobody of us would be here without Shankly
Why not? My Great-Grandad was taking my Grandad to Anfield before Shankly came along in '58.
@@Azog150 Apart of someone like of you of course, just a humble supporter from Norway talking but I was thinking of the international fans :)
Such a great channel.
Love Liverpool from Singapore!
As a non Liverpool fan, their dynasty was just special. Bill Shankly who started the Mersey club with 3 league titles, 2 FA cups and a cup in Europe. Then Bob Paisley took over with 7 league titles, 3 European Cups and 4 league cups and Ken Dalglish 3 league titles, 2 FA cups and league cup. I envy that Mersey club, whether it’s Keegan, Toshack, Hughes, St John, McDermott, Heighway, Hunt, Callaghan, Hansen, Souness, Dalglish, Gayle, Barnes, Beglin,Case and Rush. Man Liverpool not only ruled football in this country, but the world. I forgot Ray Kennedy who played for my club Arsenal, won more things at Liverpool than with the Gunners.
Steve Nicol my favourite
Jan Molby also was a legend for Liverpool FC even though for most of his time there he was not selected a lot. He could play as a third Centre-Half or sweeper, as a playmaker in midfield. His greatest attribute was his vision- the passes he made, long or short was pin-point accurate and well timed. His greatest performance was against Everton in the 1986 FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium. 1-0 down he turned the game on its head by assisting the equaliser for Ian Rush to make it 1-1; the assist for Craig Johnston to make it 2-1 to Liverpool and finally sent Ronnie Whelan on his way to assist Ian Rush to make it 3-1 to Liverpool. Two assists and set the attack going for the third- impressive.
Peter Beardsley is another great scoring against Nottingham Forest in the 5-0 game at Anfield, a hat-trick against Manchester United in a 4-0 win at Anfield in 1991. One of his best performances was against Everton in the 4-4 game at Goodison Park in the FA Cup Fifth-Round Replay. He scored two goals to make it 1-0 to Liverpool and 2-1 to Liverpool. Also scored against Crystal Palace in the 9-0 match at Anfield to make it 5-0 and graciously came off so that John Aldridge could come on as substitute to score the penalty to make it 6-0, a nice gesture by Beardsley.
Shankly is red and he never walks alone !!
shame the club treated hi so badly! The fans never did. He ended up going to Everton and hanged about their training sessions , he wasn't welcome at Anfield. Nowadays hed be given a knighthood and position on the Board
I think they were trying to avoid a situation like at Utd when Busby retired but stayed at the club, making it difficult for his successors. Not helped by Shanks turning up at Melwood and the players calling him "boss". Club probably should have handled it better, certainly once Paisley had established himself.
Its always amuses me how most players in their interview tries to imitate Shanks accent! :-p
Great film
Thankyou
He certainly made the people happy! YNWA JFT96

Liverpool is magic. Five euro cups and many other trophies won over more than one century... the club is fully respectable all around the world by billions including myself. a pity they didn`t win an EPL (or first division) cup since the early 90s. All my respect to such giant club and institution. Aberdeen fan. C`mon ye Reds!

Bill shankly never forgotten
unforgettable charisma ,he took this club by the neck ,with the help of T,V williams ,Tom saunders ,Robinson ,paisley, fagan, moran, evans ,dalglish ,dynasty was created
Liverpool fans are so loyal as well as defiant with their passion of their club that's so special in their soul. Shankly, Paisley and Dalglish made Liverpool so successful, not just with their football, but their success across the globe not just as a British club.

Really the best?.....better than Alex Ferguson and what he achieved at Manchester United? Better than Sir Mat Busby and his insistence, against FA directives, that English teams should compete against Europe's best......I think you need to re calibrate your greatness scale...…...
Joe Fagan might have been Liverpool manager for a short period but he made important signings during his period. He signed Paul Walsh from Luton, John Wark from Ipswich, Gary Gillespie from Coventry and Jan Molby from Ajax. All would make important contributions to Liverpool. Jan came into his own from 1985 onwards when Kenny became player manager.
David Fairclough legendary player.
the greatest liv fc teams was in my oppinion 1972-73,1975-76,1976-77,1977-78,1980-81,1981-82,1982-83,1983-84,1985-86,1987-88,1989-90,of course 1972-1991 was magic years for liv fc,so young on 60s no crisis for a child 5 years old however i know about 1965-66 or 1964 think roger hunt was the legend

@@kshitizsancheti Correct on all accounts. I have been following Liverpool since the mid nineties and this team is by far the most complete and the most talented. Poole have had legends like Fowler, Stevie G, McManaman, Suarez, Torres etc. but the current team have such potential, that they could dominate for another 10 years minimum.
Let's hope Jurgen retires at Liverpool. Walk on!
Current squad included 2018-2019, 2019-2020, hopefully more years to come.
A couple of interesting things regarding Jim Beglin. He was Bob Paisley's final signing in 1983. He played in the fateful 1985 European cup final against Juventus. And won the double in 1986, playing in the FA cup final against Everton. Sadly he got his leg broken by Gary Stevens of Everton in 1987 and never fullfilled his potential as left back for Liverpool and Ireland. Jim narrates well, you would never have guessed he had anything to do with Liverpool at all.

Probably the two best English teams ever, pre Man City & Klopp, the team of Dalglish, Rush, Souness, Hansen, Neal etc or the team Kenny built, with Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge, Rush, Nicol. The first was definitely harder and more physical, more aggressive, more direct, but brilliant; the second was less physical and aggressive, but probably more skilful and entertaining. I don´t know which one was best.
Ron Yeats,what a character
Ray Kennedy was my favourite player of the Paisley era.

Hi Ali. There is sound - it's just a bit quiet, as audio on VHS tapes tends to fade a bit over time. Try turning your volume up a bit.

Souness wow
Shankly wanted Dennis Law and Jack Charlton as his first signings and the board wouldn't give him the money...I feel like Klopp has the same problem at Liverpool right now. Shank got it right with Yeats and St John but it cost him promotion in his first season. Liverpool's penny pinching ways have not improved. No signings other then Cody Gakpo this window. Disgraceful for a team with our stature and legacy. RIP Mr. Shankly. You were one of a kind. The man who made Liverpool a modern club. Keegan - Toshack, what a front two.

Liverpool of this era were essentially the best of a bad lot...….in no way were they as good as the Manchester United team of the 50s or the European Cup winning side of 1968......Imagine Law, Best, Charlton coming at you? Imagine Duncan Edwards against you?.....Liverpool were good but get lost in the morass of the 70s and 80s. To be a colossal side you must do the impossible and win the trebble……..United did this and Liverpool never did. this must break the heart of every bin dipper. The most romantic club in football and the greatest club in football falls to Manchester United.
How many trebles did Law, Best and Charlton win if that's your measure of greatness? There used to be a feeling that Utd had bigger stars but Liverpool had better all round teams. My assumption is that the level of English football varies over time but Europe is a more consistent standard, and Liverpool have achieved far more in Europe than Utd. Can't you just accept that both clubs have had great teams and achievements without needing to put us down?
Liverpool were the first English club to win a treble you divvy. League, League Cup and European Cup. Bob Paisley won as many European Cups with Liverpool as Utd have won in their entire history. Utd will never produce a team to match what Liverpool achieved under Paisley in those 7 years. Not even Ferguson could manage it, and he spent 27 years trying.
And 'bin dipper'? How old are you? Fucking Tory shout that, which no self-respecting Mancunian Utd fan would use. My guess you're probably a bandwagon jumping Home Counties southerner to come out with shite like that.
BOOOOO, Man United can suck my big black toes
How many back to back titles and European Cups did the Man Utd 1960s side win?
@@lyndoncmp5751 google it. The most romantic and best supported club in the world, I just bet it breaks your heart. No matter what liverpool ever win they will never be romanticised and loved by nations across the world, they will never be respected........your name is tarnished. Your name is known across the globe as a side that is on the dark side. United are the Jedi's and will always be loved as such.

Pathetic lawyers over rights, why can we not see any footage of any of the European cup wins?
I'm sure the footage is on CZcams if you look. UEFA wanting to monetise their "product" is hardly a surprise given that money is all they care about.

Reverse physcology, here in the millions.Like sticking a filly on at the bookies. If it wins everyone is happy. Documentrys are designed to make the main Character the best..At all costs never report the bad times. Shankly was a great celtic supporter before he took over the reins at Anfield.

Used to be a great club. But you guys are middle of the road now.
In what sense?
In the sense that you guys haven't been in the conversation in Europe, let alone the league, for a long time. Top four and a second place in Europe doesn't make you relevant
How many teams are relevant by that definition? If being top of the league this year and CL runners up last year doesn't even qualify for a conversation, it can't be many.
its a very narrow road ,barca ,real ,bayern, only have half a dozen games in theyre leagues that isnt a walk over ,who else would you mention
CL No 6 just won on 01 June 2019 and today is 2 days later.. chosen for greatness not middle of anything with twice as much as nearest English competitor for CL trophies.. also third only being AC Milan and Real.. we won't stop conquering YNWA.
