Haven't felt like this since the day it was announced that Kenny had resigned. Too young for Paisley and Shankly, but Kenny really hurt. We understood - no one should ever go through what that man endured in his time at Liverpool - but it was devastating. And here, again, if Klopp thinks it's time then we respect that. He's earned the right to leave on his own terms.

Completely changing Liverpool into mentality monsters not just once, but twice! I don't think there is a single manager that can replace Klopp legacy, We true Liverpool fans have always believed in Klopp and will always believe in him.
Lets not forget he did this with Borussia Dortmund as well. Winning the Bundesliga and Champions League! Insanely special manager!

  • @Thomasburks
    @Thomasburks Před 7 měsíci +5

The saddest part is that outside of Liverpool or Dortmund he'll never get the recognition because he always played the underdog team. Still the last non-bayern manager to win the bundesliga and the last non-man city manager to win the prem and he played to the rules. One of the few managers to show genuine passion for the sport, and would always say his thoughts. Many ridiculed him for speaking out about too many games, and yet he was proven right. Many called him out when he spoke against the quality of refereeing, and yet he was proven right. He showed through charity work, that he cares. He even spoke against tory politicians, showing unity with liverpool fans.
He's not to everyone's tastes, but he's not everyones manager. He's the manager of Liverpool, and a legend of Liverpool.

Man I really have no idea how to handle this. 10 years ago I needed something more in my life, I was flat, I had no aspirations, I was confused about what I would be in the future. I started watching more football, and found myself attached to Jurgen and his squad at Dortmund. I loved every second of each match I saw. I loved the atmosphere, I loved the spectacle, it let me feel emotions I didn't realize I had been repressing.
When Klopp announced he was leaving Dortmund, I was at a crossroads. I was finishing High School, and I didn't see a future for myself in further education. I saw my path very rapidly diverging from my peers. I had begun to find solace in watching Klopp lead his team, whether it was a good day or a bad day for me or the squad, it always served as an outlet that I couldn't find in normal life. Now that very personal ritual was being upended - just as my life was rapidly evolving.
Ten years before, I was in Paris with family on vacation on the night of the CL final in Istanbul. I fell asleep before the match kicked off. I wasn't even ten years old, an American kid who played Soccer but didn't have any love for professional clubs. When I woke up the next morning, I don't think I had ever seen my Dad so animated. He regaled our family with the story of the match - Milan had scored three, Liverpool had their backs against the wall. The comeback, the double save in extra time, Dudek's ('The Dude,' he affectionately called him) wobbly legs and becoming the hero in the shootout. My dad wasn't an LFC fan, he really wasn't a fan of any sports team. He loves tales of fighting back against impossible odds, he loves stories that help us understand our own humanity. It was the first time I saw sport as more than a game - in certain moments sport became an allegory for meaning itself.
When Jurgen announced he was coming to LFC that memory rushed back into my brain. I was certain then that I would support Jurgen, and LFC, and the journey they took together until they could go no further. Today, I learned the limits of where that journey could go. I struggle to think of where I go from here. For now I reflect on the memories, and of all the wonderful moments, and of all the tragedies, and of the songs, and of the goals.

Too young for Shankly but was alive during the middle of the Paisley era, saw some silky football. Shankly laid the foundation for what was to became the boot room. Paisley carried on the tradition and it died out with Sir Kenny and Roy Evans, god that boot room churned some great managers. All great managers of their time, but did not have the social media spin that you do now. But in those days the club was owned by a local self made man (Peter Moores i believe)who ploughed money into it.
Then we had a succession of overseas managers then Brendan. When Klopp came, he was the vreath of fresh air the club needed. Just want to thank him for what he has done in this modern age of football with camera phones and social media squadron around him. He made the silk purse out of a sows ear. He will be up there in the pantheon of great Liverpool managers and will never be forgotten.

whats more shocking is not Klopp but future signins. most of those players signed because of Klopp. without that so called Klopp pull it will be interesting to see.

Watching the rematch vs Barcelona with my dad was genuinely a top 5 experience of my entire life. I've spent 12 years of my life with this man. I never met him, but i genuinely have a deeper connection to him than to some of my family members.

The Fergie comparison in 2002 isnt really fair. First of all, he announced his departure at the start of the season and second, United had just won 3 titles in a row so the burnout was real. Klopp is leaving mid season when we're in for a real chance in all 4 competitions.

I’ve seen Shankly Paisley Fagan Dalglish go and the club carries on . Klopp had 9 years at the highest most intense competitive level and he’s given his all . Fair play to him for listening to his intuition. Managers are better when they’re a bit younger to match the energy of young footballers. I like the way Girona play , not sure about Alonso . But the club will make its decision regardless

As a United fan I'm glad he's going because it's one less elite manager to compete against but as football fan I think he's top drawer and will be a loss to the prem.
Can see him going to Bayern.

Klopp is leavign, Assistant Manager leaving, all of his coaches leaving, sporting director leaving, Salah likely leaving.... rough few years ahead - there's not even a go-to manager out there who could take over, there's only 2 real greats in the game right now... Pep and Klopp

As an Aussie who loves sport, I’ve never felt so attached to my club as I do with Liverpool thanks to Klopp. After the news I just felt empty, however, it’s not time for that. There’s 4 trophies on offer and just imagine we send Klopp out with all of them…….

Marvellous news, he can see himself out and never come back. Even better if he can take the winter break, five subs and every other change that he agitated for through all his years at Liverpool

  • @imRehnzy

I cant even imagine the emptiness i will feel yet. Klopp is a great manager, but an even greater man. These teams that on paper were nowhere near City, Chelsea, Barca, Madrid. They went out and fought for the man Jurgen Klopp. Not the manager. We just don't see that as much anymore in the sport. No manager cemented themselves more into a team, not even Pep. Pep was more replacable. There was never a reason to replace him. Klopp would've gotten 5 years of tough times if thats what he asked for. He is the man

Whether you love, like, dislike, or hate Klopp, the one truly undeniable fact about him is that he's honest and passionate. He says what he feels and isnt scared to, even if he changes his mind later. I think thats what makes his interview come across as incredibly earnest.
