Ever since your travels had brought you to Liyue Harbour, you knew you were done for. Just why was everything so damn _expensive?_ It's not like you were living the high life of any kind; the salary of an adventurer was hardly enough to keep you on your feet in Mondstadt, never mind Liyue!
Late one afternoon, as the lanterns began to light up the busy streets, you reluctantly made your way down to the markets of the harbour in search of food supplies to aid you on your journey. Your leather satchel hung by your side, empty and taunting.
Trying not to think of your purse and its laughable lack of Mora, you pressed onwards.
Whispers amongst the crowds in the market sounded around you, gossip running rampant in the busy market. Sighing and dropping some Raw Meat into your satchel, you thanked the merchant and turned to leave, your purse now embarrassingly light in your grasp.
A sudden feeling of unease began to take hold of you, stopping you in your tracks.
Turning quickly, your eyes caught those of another. The pools of amber you had become enraptured with seemed to fall on yours, searching and full of what could be seen as a glint of curiosity.
Frozen in place, you could only watch as a gentleman of admirable stature made his way towards you through the crowds. With a soft smile and seemingly searching eyes, he bowed his head and introduced himself.
“Sorry, I couldn’t help but notice you looked a little crestfallen.” He paused, eyes passing over your form subtly.
“I am Zhongli, It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
His eyes seemed to quickly dip to your lips before returning to your face, your complexion shamefully red at this point.
Of course, you knew who _he_ was. Practically everyone in Liyue Harbour knew of the respectable funeral consultant. Though, face to face, you soon discovered a glaring dilemma.
The truth was, this man was _unfairly_ attractive.
You steadied yourself.
“I’m [Name]. Truth is, I’m just passing through on an adventure, but I seem to be a little short on Mora. Though It’s really nothing to be so concerned about.” You replied with a wobbly smile, tripping over your words slightly.
Zhongli seemed to ponder this for a moment, gently placing a gloved hand on his chin before finally speaking:
“Well, I do know of a fine establishment nearby. I would love to treat you to a meal, should you want to. I wouldn’t wish to take away from your precious time.”
Your eyes widened slightly, shoulders tensing. Was he, _asking you out?_
At your reaction, Zhongli smiled softly at you in understanding.
“Of course, I realise the implications here. I simply wish for you to indulge in my company for a little while. It would be a shame if this chance meeting were our last.” He stated, words dripping with an air of honey.
Before you could reply, your stomach awkwardly growled.
He chuckled heartily, his laugh seemed to settle in your very heart.
“I suppose that settles it then. Please, this way.” He says gently.
He offers his arm to you, and you gladly take it. Warmth and an air of safety envelopes the two of you as he leads the way through the streets of Liyue Harbour.
His amber eyes, swimming with curiosity, occasionally glanced over to yours in reassurance as a tender smile fell upon his lips.

As your eyes fluttered open you see the cloudy afternoon sky above you. Slowly you shift to sit up, cranky joints grieving the motion. Slightly startling back as you realize a sense a tall silhouette standing over you off to the right. Broad shoulders supporting a sturdy back, familiar brown suit relaxing your heightened senses alerted to the presence.
"Z-Zhongli?" You mumble out, rubbing your eyes still adjusting to the bright surroundings. "Why are you there... Here?!"
"I was out for a stroll admiring the glaze lilies when I saw your sleeping body on geo the spears above." He said eloquently, his honey-brown eyes seeming to stare into your soul. "I feared the worst so I stood guard as you slumbered."
"How could you not waken at something so close?" He argues a bit flustered, his demeanor extremely uncharacteristic to the calm man you usually know. "I thought one of the adept had built you an adeptal teapot, why don't you sleep in a safer area?!"
Still flustered he was making unusual hand gestures and raking his hands through his hair disheveling it in the process.
"I simply..." You pause searching for words, gazing out into the afternoon sky sunlight kissing your blonde locks as you sit on the rock. "Am unused to it, I traveled and slept out in the open for years. And while I appreciate the consideration, struggle to sleep without the wildlife white noise."
He turns to you again, seemingly becoming more and more agitated. "Then how could you not awaken to my footsteps or approaching?! What if were an enemy? What if-"
You stand up, light white dress fluttering in your motions standing up to his chest in height. Staring up at him, your cheeks flush in a red hint as you too flare up in anger.
"As I stated. I have traveled this way for years," you state huffing, the low flush spreading more and more to your cheeks.
A finger shoves into his chest, brushing against the black collar of his suit. But he stops you, gently grabbing the hand on his chest. Turning your hand over, before bringing it up to his lips to kiss your knuckles.
"I know, this of course," he says pulling up your hand to rest against his cheek leaning his head into it. "I didn't mean it that way... I know you are rather capable, rather... I am simply concerned for your safety."
Your once angry face instantly melts underneath his gaze scanning across your face, his skin soft beneath your fingertips in his slight movements.
A smile plays at his lips, before he finally lets go of your hand, and you slowly drop it to your side. Eyes still not leaving his honey brown eyes staring back into yours.
"I don't know why I didn't respond," You mumble, finally breaking eye contact to look at the ground sheepishly. "Rabbits have woken me before, a man's approach should have startled me to consciousness surely."
"Maybe I am simply used to your gait and even unconsciously in my sleep recognized it."
Your eyes immediately flash back up to his face, startled at your own admission. "I-I mean.."
But his gentle gaze and smile stop you in your tracks causing a lack of words. A light red flush now adorning his cheeks.
He was smiling at you. And it brought your heart to beat so fast you thought it may burst in mere seconds.
"Y/n." He says hesitantly, those eyes of his once again searching for information on your face as if to fill his mouth with the words to say. "I think it is time."
"What do you mean?" You pause giving him a puzzled look.
"It is time I make a new contract," he slips your fingers into his again finality in his words. "Wangsheng Funeral Parlor's is now coming to a close."
"Is Hu Tao experiencing troubles?" You question, "Is that why you are here?"
"No. Rather, I am the one leaving." He says, tightening his hold on your hand as if afraid of how you will respond to his next words.
"The contract will be with you, an eternal partner. Till the finality of our days."
He takes your intertwined hands and puts your hand into the pocket of his suit. Keeping you in place as he shifts around in the other pocket looking for something. Before you know it a familiar white and blue flower is beneath your nose as his eyes pierce into your face yet again intensely. It was a Glaze Lily.
"A contract between us?" The words leave your mouth, your tone of voice unsteady with your question.
"Yes." No hesitation in response.
"Is that like a marriage or..?" You mumble out now extremely red in the face.
"I had meant as adventure partners for time," he says still holding the glaze lily before you. "Though if that is how you wish or take it, I would be very pleased as well."
"WHA-"
His lips without hesitation crash against yours as if searching for the answer themselves. Impatient with your sedated pace in answering.
Reacting in response both of your hands reach up to his face framing it before trailing up into his hair deepening the kiss.
"Mr. Zhongli." You breathe out breaking the kiss as you rest your forehead against his. "I shall answer both your questions.."
He breathes out leaning even more against your head to gently brush his nose against yours. As if trying to steal the very air you breathed out, hungry for your love.
"To it all," You smile light-heartedly returning his gesture with an Eskimo kiss.

“Your smile told me that you’re challenging me..”
Zhongli _giggled_ . You widen your eyes and smiled bashfully. “I guess, it’s fine..” you muttered before tighten your grip at on his hand.
“Oh, love, pray tell where should we go next?” His voice was laced with tease.
“A teahouse that you might like! Let’s go!” You pulled his hand gently. He smiled softly as he followed your short footsteps.

You hear a someone at the door fully know who was there, and head over to answer it.
"Good evening" The form archon greeted you
"If it isn't, the gentlemen himself. Mr Zhongli" "I just need to put my shoes on I won't be long." You said, before going back inside for you're shoes
"Very well then, I shall wait outside for you until your ready." Zhongli patiently waited outside for a moment while you were gone.
"I'm back, sorry if I made you wait long" you apologized
"Not at all. Are you ready go?" He said reaching out his hand towards you
Nodding and taking his warm hand, the two of you walk off. Strolling through the fragrant garden at Yujing terace, Zhongli comments about every flower and how unique each and every one of them. You guys then stop to take a moment to rest.
"Would you like to hear another fact, my love?" He questioned
"Hmm? Another fact about glaze lilies?" You had responded
"Well, out of all the flowers here, you are the most unique out. For you are a rare flower, in a vast meadow" Complimenting you
You feel your face warm up a little bit, Zhongli had always had a way with words that could put anyone's mind at ease. After that, you both walk outside of Liyue Harbor towards a small area with a breath taking view of Guyun Stone Forest.
"Is it really true that those large stones shaped into mountain were your spears?" Asking him
"Yes, but the once divine spears, have now erroded with the change of time"
"Ah I understand, do you think there will ever come a day where the gods you sealed away will wake once again?"
Zhongli went silent for a moment to find words.
"There will come a day in the near future, but I have no doubt that the people of the nation. Can take charge and now protect their home."
Staying silent for a while, staring at the scenery, taking in every deatail. The night sky coveted with stars, the sea with small waves crashing againsted the shore. It was just the two of you, time had felt it had stopped, and you wish it had in that moment. The peaceful and silent moment had faded when Zhongli had spoke.
"I have no regrets in meeting you, but should the day ever come where we are not together." He pauses
"You will continue to shine in my memories like gold"
