- Hauptstadt der DDR. 39 Jahre Direktubertragung 7 Oktober 1988 The penultimate military parade of East Germany, in a parade reminiscent of William I's victory over France in 1871 ; East German defence minister Heinz Kessler and Army colonel Horst Stechbarth inspect the troops on the 39th anniversary of the German Democratic Republic, It serves a reminder of what was and a true spectacle of what the German people can do within one unified German state, the last true Germany was the DDR.
Indeed the Volksarmee had one of the most combat-ready military force of the cold war era. They could mobilise the entire war machine in 24 hours. Given the fact of the well known german discipline and the soviet-loyal DDR leadership. They would of been more than a match for the capitalist west.

Quang Do Have you actually seen Wbtll? Yeah, DDR had more 'German' style uniforms but thats about it. DDR marched and played soviet style songs. DDR knobelbecher didnt even have metal on the bottom and didnt even use Prussian drill. Also DDR removed basically all German civillian traditions. And replaced them with soviet ones. At least Bundeswehr actually use a eagle, use a variant of the Iron Cross, and can put metal on the bottom of their knobelbecher.

Less like a high hanging bucked. But it was more expensive to produce I guess. I think there is still a picture of a prototype worn. Looks futuristic as its better fitting

@@TGM90 Der Stahlhelm M56 was die NVA Soldaten getragen haben geht auf ein Versuchsmodell der deutschen Wehrmacht aus dem Jahr 1944 zurück.
Als Kind habe ich diese Paraden immer geliebt.
Man kann sich drüber streiten ob es Sinnvoll ist solche Paraden abzuhalten.
Meiner Meinung nach, darf man, auch heut zu Tage stolz auf seine Armee
sein. Damals hatte die Armee eine viel größeren Stellenwert in der Bevölkerung.
Wir Kinder haben die Soldaten als Helden verehrt .
Solange es die Soldaten der Verteidigungsarmee NVA sind , die geehrt werden, ja!
Paraden waren, sind und bleiben immer ein politisches Spektakel für das jeweilige Volk.
Ja stolz darauf kann man sein aber ich würde noch viel stolzer darauf sein, dass sie ohne einen Schuss abzugeben einfach verschwunden ist die Volke Armee, weil sie eingesehen hat, dass der Komunissmuss am Ende ist und dass Volk endlich frei sein will. Ausserdem hatte die DDR nicht einmal mehr das Geld sich auch nur einen Schuss leisten zu können! Die Armeeoffiziere, die "Guck und Horch" Einheiten konnten einfach nicht verstehen was das Volk wollte. ....und wer sein eigenes Volk nicht versteht.... muss eben gehen!
Völlig überflüssige und unnötige Operettenschau, die auch in kleinster Weise etwas über die wahre Qualität der Kampfkraft etwas aussagt, dient nur der Eitelkeit der Potentaten und ist ein Zuckerl fürs Volk, Gott sei Dank in unserer Zivilrepublick heute auch abgeschafft, obgleich z. Zt. wegen der Ukraine viele wieder nach Militär und Waffen schreien, von denen man es gar nicht erwartet hätte, da muß ich Sahra Wagenknecht für ihre Worte auf der heutigen Kundgebung am Brandenburger Tor voll recht geben, 25.2.2023, 22.05 Uhr, W. There's just something about these military parades that I just love. The discipline and unison I often see. And there's the sound you hear from boots hitting the ground in unison. It's just feels awesome, you know?

I do this as a 65 y/o navv veteran and march to this while I do my walk here in Sun City Arizona. This type of march really keeps me in shape and now prefer this over my old Navy bootcamp sailor march. This Prussian band marching music is so precise and with the tempo to incite you to walk as much as possible.
Could do 25 miles listening to this march.

Das sieht einfach und banal aus, einfach nach vorne laufen, aber ich kann mir grob vorstellen wie schwierig das in Punkto Choreographie, körperliche Belastung über mehrer Kilometer und andauernde Konsistenz im Schritt ist.
Ich war 1987 und 1988 im Marschblock der OHS LSK / LV Franz Mehring dabei. Das wochenlange Training, erst bei uns in Kamenz auf der „Platte“ und dann wochenlang auf dem Flughafen Schönefeld war nicht lustig. Aber die Paraden und auch die nächtlichen Generalproben bleiben mir unvergessen.
those helmets they are wearing were designed in 1943, they were found to be more effective at protecting the soldiers head than the ordinary German stahlhelm which they were supposed to replace. but Hitler didn't like the look of them and that was the end of them (for a while)

The reunified Germany should have kept at least a few things from the DDR... the beautiful national anthem for example should have at least been retained as a patriotic hymn, etc.. Modern Russia didn't completely get rid of all its USSR heritage after 1991.

Die Bundeswehr war zum dem Zeitpunkt als dieser Film gedreht wurde über eine halbe Million Mann stark und hätte die NVA ganz leicht von der Karte ausradiert. Ein Leoparden Panzer wird ausnahmslos gegen einen T-72 gewinnen und ein Gepard wird jedem Tiefflieger den Tag ruinieren - ‘tschuldige - *beenden.*

USSR helped Germany to widen their army ranks and in return German officers reached them everything.

I use this recording to do my walking.its so inspiring and you get into a rhythm that eats my miles away in no time.
I do this as a 65 y/o USA sailor and march to this while I do my walk here in Sun City Arizona and it really keeps me in shape. I now prefer this over the old Navy sailor march. This Prussian band music to march to is so precise and incites your mind to go further as much as possible.

I know lots of men who served in the NVA, it was basically tough sledding and also quite dangerous - they conducted military manoeuvres where 1% of the participants usually died.

Es war ein Muß und wir haben die 18 Monate überstanden. Vom Weichei zum Mann, so schwer es manchmal war, aber es hat doch Stellenweise Spaß gemacht.
Heino Möpert Bei mir warens 15 Monate. Die 3 Monate Grundausbildung warn gut, mal was anderes, wie ein Abenteuerurlaub. Die restl 12 waren stupide vorm Radar sitzen und rumhängen. Da hätt ich gern verzichtet. Doch Zivildienst war 18 Monate, nochmal 3 Monate mehr. Also lieber BW.
Sowas fehlt heute uns heute uns überrennt jeder in wenigen Tagen nur noch Lachnummer 😟

Diese oft hilfreichen Erfahrungen haben einen begleitet bis zum Tod.
Nach der Wehrmacht die wohl beste deutsche Armee -unabhängig von ideologischen Gesichtspunkten und rein militärisch betrachtet. Der Bundeswehr in Kampfkraft und Taktik mutmasslich mehrfach überlegen.
Das einzig Richtige in seinem Kommentar war das Wort "mutmaßlich". Der Rest - naja....
Die "Bundeswehr" hätten wir in wenigen Stunden völlständig vernichtet...

Fakten sprechen indes eine andere Sprache. Und bitte glaub mir wenn ich Dir sage, daß ich sehr wohl weiß, worüber ich spreche. Wir waren damals auf mehreren Plätzen der Ex-NVA unterwegs und haben uns ein sehr deutliches Bild über die Ausrüstung und den Leistungsstandard der Truppe machen dürfen. Beides unter aller Kanone. Die NVA wurde ähnlich ausgebildet und strukturiert wie der große Bruder Rote Armee. Und wie DIE "funktioniert", das erleben wir (zum großen Glück) zur Zeit im Ukraine-Konflikt in der die gloreiche Armee Putlers keine Sonne sieht. Wieviele Tage hatte er angesetzt für seine Missionierungsmission? Und? Was hat er erreicht? Nix. Goar nix. Er hat die Welt gegen sich aufgebracht und seine Armee verschlissen. Toller Erfolg.
Die NVA? Lächerlich.

Welch ein schöner Augenblick für jeden Soldaten an solch einer Parade teilzunehmen. Leider wird heute dem Militär zu wenig Wertschätzung entgegengebracht. Solche Paraden müssten in der Bundesrepublik zu jedem Jahrestag durchgeführt werden
Zu jedem "Jahrestag" wovon? Die "Jahrestage" der bRD sind eine Ansammlung von VOLKSVERRAT--"Events". Abgesehen davon sehen die Uniformen der bRD--Bunte Wer so BESCHISSEN aus, daß man sie NICHT SEHEN WILL. Sieht man sie zufällig doch, dreht sich einem der Magen um und entleert sich.
Sichtbarer muss die Truppe auf jeden Fall werden vielleicht nicht an jeden Tag aber zu nationalen Feiertagen würde ich die Truppe auch gern mal marschieren sehen ein positiver Umbau der Truppe, schnellere Entscheidungswege , Entbürokratisierung usw findet ja gerade statt das die Bundeswehr Jahrzehnte stiefmütterlich behandelt wurde war ja auch der weltlichen geopolitischen Lage geschuldet man dachte nach dem Zusammenbruch des Sozialismus man ist nur noch von Freunden umgeben das dem nicht so ist zeichnete sich leider schon einige Jahre ab man hat es nicht sehen wollen bis uns Osteuropa zur Zeitenwende und ein völliges Umdenken gebracht haben.
Diese Fahrzeuge mussten wir in der Bundeswehr (Aufklärungstruppe) an bestimmten Merkmalen alle auswendig lernen, damit wir Sie auf dem Gefechtsacker erkennen und zuordnen können
Diese Armee zusammen mit der Technik der Bundeswehr. Was hätte Deutschland doch für eine schlagkräftige mächtige Armee. Meinen großen Respekt. Vor allem bitte ohne unsere Flintenweiber als Verteidigungsministerinnen.

Не знаю, насчёт боеспособности (диванным экспертам виднее), но, на параде они прекрасны. Я люблю парады, но этот особенно. Сразу видно, что это немцы. И дело не в униформе. Солдаты идут чётко, коробочки не "дышат", что иногда хорошо видно на наших парадах. Тут играют роль и выучка, и работа барабанщиков. Вот это "Бам. Бам. Бам-бам-бам" помогает хорошо ориентироваться в шаге. И сами барабанщики прекрасны. Такую красивую артикуляцию с палочками я ранее не видел.

In East Germany they could have a job, house and normal life (because every one in GDR has a right of labour and home, just like in the USSR). In GDR house markets, unemployment and people without homes didn't exist. So, it could solve a problem with imigrant mafia.

Although East Germany was communist and part of Warsaw pact it kept its prussian tradition far more then west Germany which was under the influence of the US of America/the west has dispossessed Germany of its prussian militarism/the Soviets had kept it
