  • In this golf lesson Adam from Porzak Golf teaches Kelvin the proper right arm movement in the backswing. The right arm in the golf swing must maintain connection to the body. Grab 3 Free Videos To Gain Distance Now - bit.ly/PorzakFr...
    The right arm in the golf swing and backswing in particular is important because it sets up the downswing without having to manipulate the golf club. The right arm in the golf swing takeaway is to stay connected to the body's center and turn. The right elbow hinge in the golf swing allows for the proper connection to the bodies rotation. We hope you enjoy this golf lesson from Porzak Golf with another D1 college golfer Kelvin on the proper right arm movement in the backswing. Any questions or suggestions for future golf lesson videos, please leave them in the comment section!

    Love the simple giving blood, Handshake, arm fold. Makes everything so much simpler. You hear coaches saying about trying to keep the right arm as straight as possible to create a wide arc and that’s not attainable for most people. Most people tense up rigid and makes it feel very unnatural. This is a much more natural feeling and keeps it simple and on plane. I feel a lot more freedom with this, rather than trying keep both arms as straight as possible in the takeaway .

    wow this giving blood analogy worked so well for me. i struggle with my plane and coming over the top. did the drill at home with no balls for little yesterday. took the feels to the course today and shot +2 on 9 in 20 plus mph winds. which is great for me at a 7hc. going to keep drilling this
    felt like effortless power because i am forced to use my body instead of flipping at impact

    Once the wrist are set in backswing and you simply rotate down to ball for impact at what point do the wrists unload? Do they stay in set position at impact and unload after impact?

    Been having issues with right arm opening and folding and as such has tried to rectify with closed club face via right elbow getting high and behind my body. That caused me all sorts of over the top issues.
    This has helped me keep face square again using the shake hand give blood without right arm folding open. Really great vid 👍

  • @stevenolmstead
    @stevenolmstead Před 2 lety +4

    Another great video! I noticed that you /and your students seem to have a more rotational approach to the downswing. Coming down, the hands stay low and close to the body and move to the left through impact, with the heel of the clubface leads the toe. I understand that this method tends to be more reliable as the clubface stays more square longer (as compared to the "roll release" method with the toe rolls over/closes very quickly through impact.) I have had some good success using your method but often fail to get good compression/distance with my irons. Your thoughts?

    • @PorzakGolf
      @PorzakGolf  Před 2 lety +2

      A couple things important for compressing a golf ball; makesure the pressure is in the lead leg, your chest is down and your hands are really fast. You need to feel the speed of your hands out pace the rotational speed of your body! You could hit some shots with your weight on your left foot and a half backswing and a knockdown finish… should get you a little more pop!

    I love your backswing drill with the golf club between your feet at 45°and have the club match that on the way back, that' has helped my contact tremendously, but the only thing is now I have a slight straight pull shot. Where my divots are even facing a little left

    Adam, great video! I would caution you speaking of Faldos earlier setting of the club
    in his back swing. Faldo did it SOONER in his back swing, not FASTER! Sooner and
    faster do not mean the same thing! Words have meanings, those two words don't
    mean the same thing! Other than that, I got some good info out of this video!

  • @jzm5014
    @jzm5014 Před 2 lety +2

    I just discovered your channel and now I'm binge watching all the videos....you explain the golf concepts so well. The giving blood analogy was SPOT ON! Quick question...in the set position once you turn that right arm "to give blood" do you slightly turn the forearm/hand to grip the club? Or is it once you have the arm in place you grip the club literally "as is"? Thanks for all you do to help!!

    • @gunghogolf
      @gunghogolf Před 2 lety +4

      Welcome to your new Porzak addiction. You’re in good company. :)
      Yes, you turn the forearm only from palm up to about palm towards target before gripping, while leaving the upper arm externally rotated (giving blood position).
      If you didn’t do that, you’d end up with a right hand grip that is far too strong.
