Starman ... Pop-Up Bowie

Top of the Pops on 6th July 1972 was many people's first sight of David Bowie. Dressed in a multi-coloured skin-tight body suit, Bowie shocked the nation's parents and thrilled its youth with a daring performance of Starman. Although it wouldn't raise an eyebrow now, wearing make-up and putting his arm round guitarist Mick Ronson were seen as subversive acts at the time. This Pop-Up Bowie rendition of Bowie's breakthrough hit was filmed at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in February 2022.
