- Andy Bennett is one of the most formidable anglers in today’s match fishing scene. He is a two-time Fish ‘O’ Mania £50,000 Final winner, two-time Kamasan Matchman of the Year and has an un-touchable record in festivals up and down the country!
He began fishing in his early teens, with support from his brothers and father. Then after he hung up his football boots at the age of 16, he went on to win the Intermediate National individually at Moorlands Farm with a huge haul of 52kg!
A few years later, Andy suffered a horrific life-altering injury. He was in the middle of changing a tyre on his van by the side of the motorway when he was hit by a car. The severity of his injuries to his back and pelvis meant he was left with 27 pins, 3 metal plates and doubt that he would ever walk again.
Since his incredible recovery, he has gone on to secure sponsorships from some of the industry’s leading brands, including Tri-Cast, Blakes Baits and Tackle Guru.
In this inaugural episode of The Fishing Guru’s Podcast presented by England International angler Matt Godfrey, Andy reminisces over his early fishing life, personal experiences and events that have had huge influence on him and his life decisions, before recounting in-detail his legendary back-to-back Fish‘O’Mania Finals that saw him bank £100,000 in two fishing matches!

Like to say a very big Thank you to Andy Bennet for opening up in this podcast. To me there were questions he opened up about which brought memories back to me especially about his dad. There is also the tip about not having a preconceived thought about how to fish a certain venue but wait until you get there.

Great podcast lads.Andy is an amazing angler,always remember being at partridge lake and Andy was struggling with his back so 3 hours into the match he went home as he forgot his tablets,he came back and still won the match 😂😂.I love fishing partridge as I've learned so much watching class anglers and also massive turnouts everyweek makes u try harder to win.

Another likeable terrific angler. Down to earth guy, there's something different about northerners something special and Andy is certainly that.. I have never met him but it feels like l've known him for years. Good luck in your quest for Parkdean Title hope you realise your dream .

Decided to have a listen whist reading a fishing book, my young son was in the same room, had to switch off after a few minutes due to all the f*** used, ordinarily wouldn't bother me but would have thought a professional company such as guru wouldnt have allowed such content!
