I gotta say, it took a looooong time for me to warm up to the new macgyver. First time I saw the show, not gonna lie, I was a little dissapointed. but, its gotten better some how. This new Mac is charming and has characteristics that I recognize. He's not macgyver in the same way though. hes his own person, which is ok. Lucas Till is perfect and i couldn't be happier with him as Macgyver.

Well, Jared Padalecki did shoot a pilot episode for a Young McGyver, back in 2003.
The show was never picked up, but you can watch the pilot on YT.
Maybe they still liked his look for this new show and picked for that reason an actor who has similar features 😊

I really there would be a spin-off of this show in which Riley and Mac are married and have a couple kids. One who is hacker like Riley and the other improvises like Mac. And the show could be about the two of them teaming up to stop bad guys just like their parents did. So we can see more of that precious sunshine and badassery. (And yes I know that badassery is not a word, I’m just trying to make a point.)
