- This Roland Cloud Academy tutorial video of the Roland DJ-505 demonstrates how to update the firmware (system version 1.10) as well as an overview of new features.
NEW FIRMWARE FEATURES
Added TR-606/707 sounds to the TR-S:
· 707 Bass Drum / 606 Bass Drum
· 707 Snare Drum / 606 Snare Drum
· 707 Close Hi-hat / 606 Close Hi-hat
· 707 Open Hi-hat/ 606 Open Hi-hat
· 707 Low Tom / 606 Low Tom
· 707 Hand Clap / 606 Rim Shot
· 707 Ride Cymbal / 606 Crash Cymbal
Increases the KIT count from 8 to 12 with TR-606/707 sounds
Added Master Effects for TR-S:
· Drive
· Compressor
· Transient
Added "Step Loop" function for TR-S
Added Performance Pad Sensitivity setting
Added TR KIT SELECT for TR-S

En el modo SYS, en la almohadilla 4 pueden regular la salida del sonido en los Audífonos, no todos son iguales por lo que se saturan, asi que de esta almohadilla se puede regular!!
Chuffed to bits I can now do the occasional spin back. When I first got the 505. I contacted support to find out why I couldn’t lengthen the spin back sensitivity. That tried to tell me nobody does spin backs anymore.
SO I " SLIDE OVER TO THE COMPUTER"( MACBOOK 10.10.05 ) AND THERE WAS NO ROLAND FILE TO DRAG ANYTHING INTO ? DO I NEED TO UPDATE MY IOS BEFORE THIS FIRMWARE UPDATE IS COMPATIBLE .. I tried rebooting the dj505 a few times and no ROLAND DRIVE showed up ?????
My 505 freezes up all the time and is glitchy ..will a firmware update sort this out buddy ?

No one is making videos on anything if it says roland... their devices cost so much they can't afford to pay employees
System firmware update for Roland DJ-202/505 for the Windows 10 computers is below, this video is for Macs only.
Windows 10 System Firmware Update steps:
(1.) Power up the Roland DJ202/505 while depressing the "clear" button and make sure computer is booted up and on.
(2.) Connect the Roland to the computer/laptop via USB.
(3.) A "Roland" explorer folder will appear and open on your desktop. Drag and drop to this "Roland" desktop folder only the "DJ-202505_COA_up.bin" file from the downloaded system update folder. Make sure you have downloaded the latest system firmware of version 1.11 (as of July 2019).
(4.) Click "Eject Roland DJ202/505" from your devices menu which is located on the lower right hand screen of your computer on the taskbar.
(5.) The "Roland" explorer folder disappears from your desktop, then disconnect the USB for the Roland from the computer/laptop.
(6.) The Firmware Update will start immediately on the Roland and when finished all the lights are solid green on the Roland and a complete message will display on the unit.
(7.) Power down the Roland.
(8.) Power up the Roland while depressing the right "load" button (for deck 2) for Factory Reset.
(9.) Depending on your Windows version it may light up and flash the performance pads green for a minute and not go into Factory Reset mode. If this happens, power down the Roland again and repeat the step #8 to go into and perform the factory reset.
(10.) Factory Reset will take a few seconds to process, once it has completed then power down the Roland.
(11.) Check the Roland for the updated version to 1.11 by powering up while depressing the "rotary selection" button (in between the load buttons on the Roland).
(12.) Reboot the Roland for the last time and reconnect the USB to your computer and your done!

Very informative video. This controller is a fantastic instrument. I have one question regarding this update - in system settings, Pad 4 is also lit up, allowing for a parameter of 0-12. What does this function control? It’s not stated anywhere in the manual. Thanks much.

@@replicaacliper the CSA comment below in Spanish says that pad 4 regulates the headphone output

Hi there! I am doing everything exactly as you show, but my controller just keeps saying "copy update file" eventhough I have drag&dropped it onto the roland icon on the decktop, and it only flashes red with the message "error" showing in the screen window when I disconnect the USB cable! Any tips...?

hi can you get back to me i am having a difficult time using my 505 dj bro. also you have a great video here. the reason of this comment being that my dj505 can not connect to my serato on my computer i downloaded some files but i dont not know why it doesn’t connect can you please explain what is going on with my dj505

HEY BRO THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP BUT I HAVE A N ISSUE WITH MY DJ 505 my system requirement its mac 10.13.04 but at the time i start scratching on the right side deck even is in play mode stops and i have to restart the whole controller and thats not cool at all, how can i fix that. ill upload a video with the issue, and hopefully you guys can help me out. chhers

I keep getting error unable to connect to MIDI device..?? How do I fix it?
I am trying to figure it out one issue with my new 505 😥🤯 Performance pads on a deck 2 are not as responsive as on deck one. All 8 performe very poorly and its not good for finger patterns or any sort of timing performance as you have to press them significantly harder. Is it somewhere in set up or hardware issue? Thanks a lot

Great video I was wondering how to get to the back spin after updating. Thanks a lot. Only thing I’m wondering is the sound effect knob only work for the TR-S and doesn’t control your sound effects volume like it does on the pioneer ddj Sx. Do you know if there’s an option to do so?
Theres dedicated knobs for your tracks sound effects as well. 3 knobs per deck, for 3 different effects. Which effect is selected in serato.
I have version 1.11, do I have to update it to version 1.12 or is it not necessary?

I love this controller but it has been giving me endless recording issues, TR-8S fails to work during Serato and the 505 will constantly not work to record both master output sounds from microphone+actual mix.
I've done a factory reset on the controller, reinstalled all drivers after uninstalling and even moved back to Mojave...the issues continue after Serato or my computer reset.
Really wish it was problem free...the TR-8S is such a wonderful tool that I just can't utilize because of all these issues
how is the responsiveness of your performance pads at the bottom? even with the setting at it's most sensitive i feel like i have to really jam my finger down to trigger the pads. i emailed roland about this and they say you gotta break it in so i'll give it a month but otherwise I'll have to return if it doesnt get better. how's your pads though?
@@sprinter18 Honestly, my SR2 and Ableton Push 2 pads are way more resposive musically...it's kind of upsetting even with the DJ-505 at max "pad responsiveness".
@@reni3 Okay, so it's just the way this controller is than. It is pretty disappointing... but I do have a Maschine Mikro already so if i want to get ideas out i'll keep with that. and i never had a step sequencer before and i love the 16 step buttons at the top though
@@sprinter18 Im with ya, i love that the TR-8S allows us to do sequencing and multi-play repeat on instrument cymbals. I just wish the actual pads responded rhythmically to our touch.

Hmm I’m debating between the sr2 and Roland 505, I own two ddj sr1, how are you guys enjoying the 505 and is anyone in the Roland cloud program if so how does that help with the 505
If either device says roland, I recommend you find a 3rd option that doesn't and mosey on over to another vendor to purchase. Roland is ass
Hola, tengo problemas con la función SLIP, Cuando está activada la función, muevo el jog, y se pega la Canción, no funciona el play. Tengo que reiniciar la 505 y deshabilitar la función SLIP, PARA PODER OCUPAR LOS JOG... TIENES ALGUN TIP? Does this update fix the problem with the fingerpads being not responsive enough when doing finger drumming?
Yeah, just adjust the pad sensitivity (top left)
I just applied the update, set mine to 30 and it's definitely better, but I'd still be a little worried using them live. The backspin is definitely fixed (was kind of a worry that my entry level reloop controller could do backspin better than the 505 previously)
Yes. You have to go into system settings for pad sensitivity customizing and it's listed in the manual. Works fantastic now.
COLLEY I adjusted mine to 30 as well and they still don’t feel as responsive as I would like. Did you get the same result?
Why is there little to no indo on the system settings for the dj505 and the LIMITED stuff that is available is conflicting from 1 post to the next on yalls website for example... the pad sensitivity is it up to 30 is the most sensitive or down to 0(or 1) is the most sensitive... where is an UPDATED MANUAL that lists the newest additions with the firmware update to 1.12 because I can't find it and the manual on yalls website is looking like it's still the original one. I'm flabbergasted that you all have products that are so expensive but can't seem to figure out how to provide adequate UPDATED info for the users of these bank breaking devices. I definitely will not be purchasing another device if it says roland on it. Also my last complaint... why can't yall figure out how to add a link on your website that will allow customers such as myself who bought your device used from a music store thinking I would get all the software for it to download that software... I've got about 3-5 features MINIMUM THAT I CAN'T USE unless I go pay serato even MORE MONEY😢
