I just finished watching this story…it made me think of my third grade teacher “ Mrs Mayer” who taught 3rd grade in Phoenix AZ, she gave me the extra help I needed after school and taught me to read. I am dyslexic and that was not acknowledged at that time ( early 70s ) ….. as an adult I saw her in a restaurant helping two more children with their school work, she had lots of children. I will always be thankful she was my teacher and remember her with fondness. My would have been so different if not for her. She gave me so much.❤

This movie put tears in a 68 years old man's eyes, here in Liverpool, England, a lovely warm movie that makes you think of days gone by.
My father told me of this movie 25 years I saw it then. . I was a teacher because of Facebook i have connected with so many of former students my oldest are in their mid 50’s. I met up with one of my first students a few months ago. I still had pictures that I took in 1980. Very rewarding profession

Its not a sacrifice..if she had married her attentions would have been wasted on him and she would have not of had any energy for all those children.Her affect on those children would have been profound..The difference was her influence on hundreds of children not a mere few ..she did not sacrifice herself ..she knew what path too take..Society is not all about marriage and bringing up your own children...
