This is NOT What Mercedes Needs Right Now!

  • Lewis Hamilton and George Russell have been the talking points of the Qatar GP after their Turn 1 crash, and it seems like the team has had enough of their shenanigans! For the second race in a row, both of the teammates were not able to race in a fair and square manner, and while they managed to get off without any major consequences in Suzuka, Qatar hasn’t been quite the case for them. This is why Mercedes had a lot to say in this intra-team battle, and even though official apologies have been sent from Hamilton towards Russell, the situation is massively different in the real world! Is this the beginning of an epic battle that would replicate the 2016 season between Rosberg and Hamilton-the last competitive teammate that the 7-time world champion had in his career?

    Russell got a little bit of luck that he wasn't the one who got taken out.
    Hamilton appeared 'humble' by taking responsibility for his own crash out. But there are doubts that the racer in Hamilton is rearing his head and the real intention is 'there is no way Hamilton is ever backing down, now or indeed ever . . .'
    If it was all repeated, Hamilton would go for it again and to hell with George . . .
    I've supported Sir Lewis in the past and will do so again. However, if Russell ever thought he could 'teach an old dog new tricks', he was wrong; as he just was lucky . . .this time . . .

      He pushed Lewis left and nearly took Lewis out despite the team discussion. No one seems to mention that the team instructed GR to allow Lewis around the outside of him (and Max). Which was happening. But GR actually tried to ignore the team and push Lewis outside to take on Max himself.

    Although it was basically Hamilton's mistake that caused the incident, one could also make the case that Russell should have anticipated a move along the outside by Hamilton, especially in light of their conversation that morning. Russell always says that he has respect, but I'm not really seeing that on the track.

    • @jakl10
      @jakl10 Před 8 měsíci +2

      Exactly. Yes Ham could’ve gone wider on the outside, however George knowing the before mentioned strategy that Ham was on softs therefore would have quicker pace, should’ve known better and be paying attention to fall back a bit to give Ham room so he can try and make a move that way they’d help put the team first and both be in some good points

    If Russell agreed to give Lewis preference at the start, why didn’t he tuck in behind Max and give Lewis the position? Had to have seen him coming up quickly on his outside, especially given Lewis was on Softs. Russell’s immaturity and impatience has been on display all season. It’s the reason he’s eighth in the DC. I believe we all saw who Russell really is when he Bottas crashed and he got out of his car and smacked Bottas in the head. That’s not a competitive behavior, that’s and the behavior of an immature child.

      Why didn't lewis give more space? Spa he did the same with Alonso and when he is on the inside like Silverstone 2021 he fucks it up on the inside with more than enough space...He is just getting desperate and being a c*nt towards his team and team mate.

    • @wiscious
      @wiscious Před 8 měsíci +1

      Agreed. The point is, Lewis screwed up, but the underlying problem is that GR and Lewis were told how they would approach T1, with Lewis to go past. But GR does his usual and pushed Lewis outside almost taking him out. Why didn’t GR stick himself behind Max instead of going for the move himself despite the team instructions beforehand.
      Yes Lewis screwed up, yes it was his fault, but there are mitigating circumstances here in some respect.
      I can’t stand all the Lewis haters, it’s sickening how much grief the guy gets.

      @@wiscious I’m
      Not a Lewis fan and thought it was his fault until I heard about the agreement and watched the incident again. It was an aggressive move and one I think was based on GW deferring to Lewis in turn 1. Thus, I fault GW more although Lewis didn’t give him any room. I guess both have to take some responsibility.

      Not even that though, after forcing Lewis across the track from behind Verstappen to make room for himself, Lewis still goes past him with superior tyres and a better start. You can argue Lewis didn’t give George enough room but you have to think the car passing you will have to take the corner too but Russell kept his foot in and Lewis turns in, only one outcome.
