How many sushi did I eat!?
Kura Sushi is a conveyor belt sushi chain restaurant that serves 100 yen sushi plates! (really high quality for its price💰)
There are a few 100 yen sushi restaurants in Japan, but Kura Sushi is by far my favourite.
It's a must place to go if you are travelling to Japan on a budget ☺️

I just found out that Dallas Texas has three of these!
I tried kura here in the U.S. I don't think it's good sushi at all though. Very thin pieces of sushi and tastes cheap.
The fatty tuna, shrimp with grilled cheese, sweet corn with mayo and the white fish (can’t remember the name) with a shiso leaf are so good at kura sushi. It’s one of my favourite chains in Japan and you can’t argue with ¥100
I don't think I tried the white fish with shiso leaf sushi before so I should give it a try next time!

🤔 good question...it depends on the selection and the restaurant. Normally its like 6 to 8 plates at the most...lol small stomach...🤣

I've never had a conveyor belt sushi experience. It's so cool. I like the self-service tea too! And wow the prices are amazing. Here the prices are higher and the quality is lower 😅... I can't wait to have sushi in Japan!
Sushi is definitely a lot cheaper in Japan in general! It's a must-have if you visit Japan ☺️
kura sushi was my favourite because there was one just round the corner from my campus 🥺 miss it so much (miss japan so much especially kyoto where i studied) i love the tuna with soft boiled egg the most 😭😭

This is probably one of the cheapest conveyer belt sushi restaurants I’ve seen! Thanks for the tip. I’m a Filipino currently living in Tokyo and I’ve been looking for some cheap sushi. Might check this place out when I’m near those areas.

When I first went to Japan (many years ago) I thought the green tea powder was a condiment for food so I used it as one would use wasabi, mustard, or ketchup. 😊
Cannot be sure since many years ago but I might have even thought the green tea powder was a form of wasabi.

I like the idea of having different varieties and you picking which to eat instead of a fixed set. It's so cheap too! The one over here is starts at $4 per plate.... starts at, the plates are color coded.
That's so expensive! The traditional sushi places have their plates colour coded, but the 100 yen sushi chains have the same price all across!

Yes! A sushi video! My favorite food! I can actually eat at least 32 of the California roll in one day if I don't eat anything haha. I just love it! If I visit you in Japan someday, you should take me here and we will eat together. Since you mention it's only $1 US per plate, you can watch me eat them like crazy! Haha this is a good video.

I've been to two Kura Sushi locations in America. I love it. The menu is slightly different than it is in Japan and they don't have the self-serve tea at the tables.

That's great quality sushi for the price. I wish I lived in Japan.
Here in the U.S. they incorporate avocado into the sushi sometimes. When I ate a whole dab of wasabi, thinking it was avocado, my mouth went sour. First time trying wasabi. I can handle spicy foods easily but wasabi has a strong taste. I learned my lesson.

I have! Tsukiji is so much fun even after the main fish market got moved to Toyosu (I think 1-2 years ago) ☺️ I should make a video of Tsukiji!
It's always amazing to me how they can take all that in one bite. I really wish I liked sushi. It looks so beautiful but I have tried it and it's a taste I can't acquire.
the quality and freshness of the fish can affect the overall taste, hopefully you give sushi another try. i recommend salmon

I had Kura in Dallas Texas. We don't get green tea and ours is a bit more than 100 yen a plate but still good.

I liked how you incorporated the Gatchapon idea from the Odaiba video into this one. Is Kura Sushi a chain? You ate some very interesting sushi. I’m assuming nowadays it’s common to see different toppings like the fried cheese. Has that been a recent development or it’s been that way for years?
The gachapon idea was a coincidence but thank you! Yes, Kura Sushi is a chain and you can find it all across Japan ☺️
The interesting toppings have been around for a few years, but mainly in those cheap sushi places (I think it's so that kids can also enjoy sushi). The more traditional sushi places rarely have those interesting toppings!
I miss conveyor belt sushi. It's so convenient, well-run and the food is great for the price.
Definitely! And it’s a lot of fun to watch all the sushi go around 🙌
We have a Fusion Sushi restaurant in my town in Scotland and although I cannot visit it now because of our Lockdown once we can go to restaurants again I will try there versions of Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki as well as some of there Sushi. Probably won't be the same as in Japan but it will have to do until I can visit Japan myself and have proper Sushi. Could hear you just fine and great video.
I've had Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki in London and they were pretty good, so I hope the restaurant in your town serves good Japanese food too! ☺️
@@TokyoFoodieSarah They do have a delivery option, I will try them after next pay day and see what they are like. For the better restaurants it looks like Edinburgh which is 16 miles away has more restaurants that I can try stuff but we arent allowed to leave our County area(Think of Prefecture Area) and go to another since edinburgh is in another county that will have to wait till I can sit inside.
Kinako or soy bean powder mochi is so hard to find where I live, but I miss having that when I visited Japan

Thanks for that! I don't think they take individual requirements, but most sushi (especially the fish ones) are gluten free and soy sauce comes separately!
We have a Kura Sushi near my house but in the US locations it’s $3.15 each. Much more expensive but cheap for American sushi

I've been to 2 different locations, one in NJ and the other in DC. It's $2.95 per plate and for for the more expensive fish (fatty tuna etc), you only get 1 sushi per plate. It's definitely cheaper in Japan!

Hi, I just saw this video now in my recommended list. Pre-pandemic in 2019 I was fortunate to visit Japan (specifically Osaka) twice. And both times I was there I got to eat in Kura Sushi but in two different locations within Osaka. Anyway my question is does the menu for the fish used differ in the region the restaurant is located in or is it a standard menu nationwide like in most franchise restaurants? Thank you.
Kura Sushi menu should be the same all across Japan! 🍣
