  • The dance composition is based on an ancient Indian text, Isavasyopanishad. It has been interpreted by Madhavi Mudgal in the classical Odissi dance-form.

Pramod friend, I live in Brazil and I am a big fan of Indian culture and folklore! Ravi Shankar is one of my favorite musicians and dancers like Madhavi Mudgal, Alarippu, Savitha Sastry and Sujata Mohapatra fascinate me with their art. It's all so ethereal, as you said, that brings me to the essence of humanity! Millenarian art that elevates our souls ... If you can recommend me more about the culture of India, I thank you.

I am glad that this piece is back up on CZcams. It brings out the best in Indian dance. The short sequence at the
ten minute mark is particularly expressive. I suspect Mudgal's genius at play here. Very, very well done. Nice to
see good camera work and sound capturing this wonderful performance. I salute you, Ms. Madhavi Mudgal.

    Dear Sir,
It is certain that the choreographer has a strong musical and Upanishadic knowledge which she/he has applied.
The sloka , thadEjathi , thannaijathi , marks the dawn of knowledge in the realm of brahma gnana , a beginning point where there is light but also a component of darkness. this mantra is tuned to Raga Bhoopal , which in music is the rAgA of early morning or twilight hours or Dawn.
The mantra "pUshann EkarshE , I perceive is the Climax of realisation where the seeker solemnly asserts "Purushah , sah , aham asmi , and while doing so , great people say he/she enjoys extreme ecstasy . Choice of Raag Durga , which is played during very auspicious moments of rituals such as tying of Mangal sutra in marriages is an Apt choice. More so , Raag Durga creates extreme happiness while hearing.
    Good job by the mudgals.

@@SPOTFILMS it was in 2013 when I watched the "Life of Pi" movie in Brazil, where I was born. I was astonished, mesmerised by the short Bharatanatyam scene, which was something completely new to me.
After doing some research I came across Savytha Sastri's videos and eventually came to find your video, which I quite enjoyed.
I saved my videos in a pen drive and moved to the UK. I thought I had lost it when I got here.
Ever since, I've made many friends from different parts of India, but the fact that I had lost my favourite Bharatanatyam videos frustrated me.
Luckily enough, I found my pen drive three days ago and relocated your channel by researching: "Odisdi I am that".
Now I can share these songs with my 9 months son who is already appreciating hus fair share of Indian classical music. :)
