This heater requires some assembly. Attach the wheel base to the bottom of the heater with the included u-bolts and wing nuts before operating. It is important that the wheels are attached to the bottom of the heater. This heater creates convection heating by passing warm oil inside metal columns. It is quiet gradual heating. As the heater warms up the oil may naturally expand and make a slight ticking sound. This is normal and will stop once the oil has reached optimal temperature. First make sure the heater is plugged in. This heater has 2 heat modes, a constant
heat setting and an efficient energy smart mode with 4 preset comfort settings. Turn the heater on by pressing the power button. The heater will always start in the high constant heat mode where the heat will remain on at maximum power of 1500 watts. High will be illuminated in this mode notice the current temperature in your room will always be displayed. In this instance the current room temperature is 75 degrees. To change the constant heat mode to low where the heater will operate at 900 watts press the set button until the low light is illuminated. Under constant heat
you can save up to 35% on energy bills when you use the energy smart setting. In this energy efficient mode the heater automatically regulates power consumption based on your desired
temperature setting. Simply press the set button to choose 65 70 75 or 80 degrees. The heater will sense the room temperature and decide how much power is needed to meet and keep the room at your desired setting. The energy smart heater has a great feature which shows you how much energy is being used during operation. For example notice when you change from low to high heat mode the heating energy usage indicator displays the amount of energy used in each mode. If the room temperature is at your desired temperature the heat will be in standby using no energy until the room temperature decreases and the heater needs to increase output to keep you comfortable. This heater is equipped with many safety features one being a four-way tip over switch which disables the heater if tipped in any direction. Make sure you are not tipping the heater while using the settings or the heater will remain off. To use the timer function press the timer button and
choose 2 4 6 8 10 or 12 hours this heater will run for that chosen period and automatically shut off after the desired time is passed.

Mine emits a burnt oil odor. Is there a recall on the HZ-789 model? Should I return it back to Honeywell?
