Wild Camping Gear For Summer | 2019 Setup.

  • Video of my old summer wild camping gear that I used during the summer of 2019.
Decided to go backpacking for a summit wild camp on a Scottish Mountain (Munro) called Ben Vorlich.
The purpose of the video was to also share my thoughts on the clothing I wear and the equipment I use when I go out on my wild camping trips during the spring, summer and autumn.
In this film I try and give an explanation as to why I purchased them, use them as well as the item weights and the rough costs involved.
This is just to let people see what I use and not to be taken as definitive guidance, as everybody’s requirements are different. However this is what I have found works for me over the last few years of hiking and camping in the Scottish mountains.
As always thank you all for watching. RS

Like the compact size but at times the Sony colours are killing me for both images and stills. My Nikon D7200 seemed to have better colours. May have a work around on this and trying different things that I may do vlog on. It was my first time to Lewis / Harris and is one of the nicest places in Scotland I have ever visited.

Very informative video, I've been wondering for a while what you carry on your mountain trips. I'm just back from a camp on Carn a' Mhaim and I did a video on my kit list while I was there - the wild camp thing seems to be a popular theme on the landscape photography channels right now. I suspect your bag is very much lighter than mine though!! Lovely images as well, nice soft light over the mountains.

I think that shows in your vlogs, you have hill knowledge that most don't as (me included) others tend to use the camera as the reason to head for the wild, empty places. I did hillwalking years ago, then stopped. Then I started being more serious about my photography and, being inspired by the mountain photographers, I now find I'm back in the hills with a camera. Looking forward to part 2 and then the Harris episodes!

Hi Jamie. Yes have gone back the way to the A6300. Using it for the photography and filming but may change again in the future. If I was selling prints or making a living from the shots then I would consider a possible upgrade, but for me as a hobby it was getting too expensive. At times the Sony can be a pain but it is the best all round camera for mew at the moment and maybe see what evolves with the A6700 if it is ever released. Atb

Ha, ha, it is very handy for that. Will do a film on it soon but it looks like they don't make them anymore. You need to keep an eye out on Ebay and such likes for one to come up for sale.
