I guess I'm a "dumb American" because I hardly ever discuss politics and the type of people who berates
Toni in the comments are the reason why. People are so egocentric, judgmental and just simply BOLD! Why would anyone feel so inclined to correct the way someone speaks??? Why is it your business what she talks about or avoids to talk about on HER channel? And I've seen the comments! If you've watched a full vlog, Toni nearly mentions in some way that she is Canadian each time. And not to mention how often she pays tribute to her Jamaican/Caribbean roots.

      #ABSOLUTELY.
Im an immigrant from AFRICA aka #blackgirl in Canada but been Tonis follower from day1 and one thing to notice was her acknowledgment of her Jamaican heritage as well as her Canadian identity. That is something always #always apparent in her representation online.

I graduated from college in Texas and I often got “you talk like a white girl” 🤦🏾‍♀️. Trust me…it’s happens in the continental USA 🇺🇸. I also must note that African American is a misnomer. My family is American Indian and that is true of more than 70% of so called African Americans. Peace and prosperity 💖💫🧘🏽‍♀️💫💖

Disclaimer: I'm not Indigenous nor an Indigenous scholar by any means but how could it be that more than 70% of "African-Americans" be of Native ancestry if the majority of them came from West and Central Africa? I've seen on Finding your Roots with Dr. Gates and other places that the majority of people in the U.S. who claim Native ancestry -Black AND White- actually do not have any such ancestry and that many Blacks didn't want to highlight that they were mixed with White due to rape and many mixed White families didn't want to be labeled as Black and chose to say they were Native to explain their "swarthy" complexions etc.

    • @cbelle1015

Exactly!! You are spot on! Many people repeat this rhetoric without research or evidence based data. I guess I am one of the "so-called"😂 African Americans, because my ancestors hail from AFRICA. If some of you all want to claim to be so-called Indigenous, fine. Just don't make erroneous statements like 70% of blacks in the US have Indigenous heritage. That is not even mathematically possible.

If someone is not educated enough to learn the difference between culture, ethnicity and race. Not everyone identifies themselves as African American, that is widely used in the USA. Most people that society deems to be black identity themselves as Canadian. People that feel the need to either correct you or question you don’t have enough knowledge of world culture or understanding of the 7 Continents. Being born in Indiana and living in California - I see America as a continent not country. I see all of our Afro Diaspora as our common ingredient. So I just think of you as Black full stop. We are cousins by history and DNA but I see the difference between CA Black folks and USA Black folks. From what I have seen- I love your culture. It's black with a different flavor. Very cool and deep. Love y'all. Can't wait to have a Jamaican President on this part of the Americas. Sending my best wishes your way.

Damn people are so weird. Why do they keep trying to make someone into or something that they want them to be. I use whatever term, phrase or word want. Because I’m 61 the words I may not be common to most.

I am sorry that people are so rude, they must not be a true follow to assume you’re American.

I don’t understand the need to constantly correct people! Stay in your lane. From your friendly neighbor to the south.

Hey Toni!! People are just weird. Even Americans have a different dialect depending on what part the country they are from.

Interestingly, I am older than you but feel you have vastly different life experiences than I do that I think of you as "older" than me or around the same age. I am 52 but most "black don't crack" so don't think I am saying you look old 😂 But I am also childfree.
