    It's cool you are willing to share your experience and accept the loss. I had 15 WRX couple years ago I wouldn't dare to pro tune it besides suspension mods because I didn't want to turn it into money pit. I had my 1st newborn at the time and now I'm a dad of 2 kids. I traded the WRX for a luxury SUV for family and then got myself a MR2 and Ek Civic for project that are fun and easy to my wallet. Always separate daily and fun car to keep family satisfied. Don't do engine mod if you want factory reliability.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  Před 2 lety +1

      That's a success story if I've ever heard one. The MR2 is one heck of a fun car for sure. I figured others could learn from my mistakes. I never had any intention of modding the car but once the stock motor blew, I didn't want to spend the money to stay stock. In the end, a lesson learned. If I ever decide to mod again, it'll be a Honda for sure.

    • @Zenoforever
      @Zenoforever Před 2 lety

      @@Altek1 I know once I start modding it, it is hard to stop but at least old Honda parts are cheaper and NA car are harder to break compares to Subaru lol. I actually have more fun ripping out light and slower car than my faster WRX on the street not worrying about cop pull me over for speed or car breaking down. Those cars offers quicker response to the gas peddle and are easy on gas. They suite my driving style but it's just me. The point is always know what you want out of a car to fit your lifestyle 😉

    I've always thought that Subarus are quite reliable despite the reputation. I think that the bad reputation comes from car enthusiasts though, the ones who thrash their cars and more often than not, don't service them regularly/properly or don't actually know how to drive well. As an example, I frequent the WRX subReddit and the amount of people that say a WRX they bought is their first car to drive is insane. The same people that say they don't know how to drive manual yet and will lean in their AWD WRX, a car platform notoriously not forgiving for the unskilled, it baffles me.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  Před 2 lety +2

      I didn't realize that either until my coworker brought it to my attention. I did look at the Elantra GT but didn't love the body style. Something about the nose of the car. I then considered the Forte GT, which I test drove. The dealer was trying to gouge me an extra $4k which was essentially a covid tax since cars were "hard to get" yet the lot was littered with cars. It rode nicely but was pretty loud and felt a bit hollow overall. For the same money I picked up the 2019 G70 in stick with only 9k miles on it. Much quieter, 252hp, great sound system and pretty damn good looking in my opinion. My last and final option was going to be the Toyota Corolla GR, but I couldn't wait and I just know dealers are going to jack the price up $5-$10k if you can find it at all.
