I’m in barber school right now as well. On my last stretch then I’m done. Your school is so much better than mine. I go to an actual college in the barber program and it’s such a waste. I would have loved to be able to go to a place like that. So much creativity there. We can’t even get our instructors to teach us half the time. We have all had to self teach and get tips from each other. Luckily there’s a few guys in our program that have been in the game for a long time and are able to pass down some knowledge. Great video man!

Chris Phiffer Welcome to the YAYAREA🤘🏽☹️ Keep it real with you it’s a pretty far drive, especially with the traffic. Best advice is to find local barbers and ask what they did and what school are closer to you. If you think school at UBC will benefit you better in the long run why not👌🏽

Yo arvin when you first started going to barber school were you already cutting people hair or did you start going to barber school and learned everything their?
I was a more experienced barber going Into barber school. Went there to become a licensed barber but met a lot of dope people that helped fine tune my knowledge as a barber at the time. There’s more first time barbers than experienced in barber school, don’t get discouraged if you never cut anyone🤟🏽

That’s dope! I was 3-4years experienced before barber school. Best advice, try not to overthink the process and just get after it!! Everyone starts somewhere. Start with haircut tutorials, ask friends and family if you can practice on them, if you can’t find anyone to practice on, cut yourself, shadow a barber that you may know. You’re already doing the first step and it’s reaching out to other barbers for advice💯 get that experience through practice and you’ll learn quickly
i have a question vin i'm 16 and iv'e been practicing cutting hair i practiced on myself, my homies and i also cut hair in my bathroom i'm failing high school and it sucks so i'm thinking of just going to night school and getting my GED does barber school allow a GED or do you need a high school diploma
Zion Wilson I can feel the pressure you’re going through. First things first you are capable of ANYTHING you set your mind to, don’t let failures define who you are, quitting is the only true defeat. So no matter how many times you fail get back up and never quit on yourself💪🏽 You young young, you got so much potential on you, just tap into it regardless of what anyone says... regarding school I do believe a HS diploma is required but I would call that barber school and let them know your situation and they can work something out🙏🏽

Just like anything in life, get out your comfort zone and get going! Theres always a life changing feeling of bravery and determination getting out your comfort zone. Stay focused and know that its a process, trial and error is key.

Benny Blanco Getting your license is worth it🙌🏽 never felt so good achieving something. Barber school wasn’t easy, there was lots of fun memories but there’s always bad. Never know the people you’ll meet

I’ve always thought about being a barber, a mobile barber too... but the issue is Im not good at drawing like an artist and all the barbers I know are very good drawers like an artist I. Some sort.. but always wondered in your opinion for you to be a barber or a good barber do you think you have to be good at drawing?

You don’t have to be the greatest artist to be a barber, some barbers specialize in designs, some specialize in color and styling, some specialize in perfecting blends and crispy lineups.
