Come Dine With Me takes people who are experts in the art of giving the perfect dinner party and puts their skills to the test. All are great cooks and excellent hosts - but they're all very different. So, if one person's perfect dinner party is another person's evening from hell, how will our hosts cope with a whole week of each other's hospitality?
Each night for a week, one of our hosts will throw a dinner party for the others. They all have their own unique styles of cooking and entertaining, but they're all determined to impress, because at the end of each evening, the guests will give their host a mark out of ten. The host with the most points at the end of the week wins £1,000 pounds. Come Dine With Me has expanded to a variety of formats including singles, couples and celebrity specials!

If you had a pro baker make a sweet potato pie and a pumpkin pie and did a blind taste test you'd think they were the same pie.

It's a cooking contest! Whipping actual heavy cream takes like two minutes. That canned whipped cream hardly has any flavor, and the consistency goes bad a second after serving. It doesn't look even remotely good. I can understand not making your own ice cream, but not even making whipped cream?

I think the first couple got a bit confused, surely their "dessert" (basically mashed sweet potato) was meant to be a side to the main...? Would probably go quite well with spicy chicken and roated veg. In a glass with whipped cream....? Not so much.
Idk I’ve had sweet potato pie and it’s pretty nice. Can’t remember what I put in it but I think it needs lots of sugar and spices and maybe the pie crust adds some texture.

It's a cooking competition, shop bought anything should result in the contestant starting with -5 points
It's a dinner party hosting competition, thus why they are always referred to as either hosts or guests, and not chefs and diners. The cooking is but a part of the entire event, of which the hosts are scored as a whole.

If you’re renting you’re not always allowed to decorate. Or if the property is a new build you’re not suppose to either for the first year
The newer episodes were done during the pandemic so that was a rental space, not their homes. The episodes were guests sat at very large tables were not done in their homes.
