I’m with you. If I’m out with buddies where it’s laid back we always move it behind the divot. Dumbest rule ever. I don’t play tournaments either so who cares.
Completely agree. It's straight up bad luck not a skill problem when you land in a divot in the fairway
If you accept/play using the preferred lies local rules (even on sunny days) you should be able to mark, pick up your ball and place within 6 inches from the spot and get a decent lie - totally agree that playing out of a divot in the fairway is not fair

golf courses arent designed with divots in them. Its like saying lets leave pitch marks in the green, you know.
It also means someone could have a practice swing every hole and take a divot just to create problems for other golfers

Fun fact, I served a religious mission in Honduras and they have one week every year where they eat Iguana. I tried it and it’s just like they say about every meat. It tastes like chicken haha We also caught one and he detached his tail but we still wrangled him up. They are cool little guys
