I had one of these DS 100 Bikes when a boy. Was great hearing the sound of that little engine again. As I recall, the points would foul on mine. I grew up on a farm so used mine chasing after Cattle, and the Sprockets would get eaten up pretty fast. My Dad dug a pond, and I used mine to jump the pond banks and wore out the shocks too. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks for all your info on these bikes . I have a 78 Suzuki ds 100 ive done a mild resto on and love the bike . Your videos are a great source and helped me a lot. Thinking about changing it to cdl later . Thanks
Hello, I just bought a 79 ds100 and I tested compression and its only making around 80ish, is this enough to run just? it will need to be rebuilt soon i would imagine. Also do you have a link of where to buy the right type of coil for this bike? mine also has no spark and I believe it is the coil because the lights work still. Thank you!
Hi Kevin, I literally just got a ds100 motor for free today. My friend says It runs just need the crankshaft bearings. Is that a hard job to do. And was wonding if it's easy to buy the cdi convention or is that something you do
@@lingmarksman1111 loose the 3screws and rotate the plate however if no modification where done to the engine this will make you lose power not increase it on a stock engine can cause engine ping and piston slap
Wow I'm just as shocked as you are. First can of worms for 2021. Is it difficult to convert from points to cdi? I'm having a heck of a time trying to locate a pulse generator for 85 Honda v65 on eBay.

Thank you I appreciate that and welcome
The caps of the bolt meter pull off so that you have longer prongs. I've never seen one that didn't have those.
Great video Kevin!
Thank you
Any idea if there are any compatible carburetors for this engine?
Sorry realized it’s a 100 lol
Is this the same motor as rm80
Hi Kevin, Could you tell me where you found the cdi parts?

120 or better anything under 120 will need work
What flywheel did you use on that I have the same problem with mine
I used the Suzuki ds80 magnto and flywheel and ignition coil because the cdi box is built in the coil
Maybe a 1980 ds? Looks like The earlier ones had different fenders.
I don't think the engine is original to the frame engine is points frame is cdi design looks like they tryed making 2 bikes into 1
what is that cdi from?I have the same bike with bad source coil and points.a 78 model.
You have to use the coil and magneto and flywheel from a Suzuki ds80
