I had this taped on a VHS when it was performed. It was a magical moment. I listened to it a hundred times. I long ago lost it and have been heartbroken. I've found it now! Thank you thank you thank you!!
@@carolclark8767 Taste? Head banger music? Did you actually read my comment? I absolutely love the song. Hint: when someone calls something "phantastic" it is usually a sign of appreciation. And for the taste part. You might want to compare this version with Joan Armatrading's own singing. Etheridge with her relentless vocalising absolutely ruins it. She turns one of the great rock songs into mere noise.

Joan Osborne has one hell of a powerful voice!💪
Get it right. Joan Armatrading wrote the original and is Melissa's favorite artist.
@@davetrent8612 uh.. Joan Osborne is singing in the video. They were not talking about the author of the song....
I had this taped to a VHS and I miss it a lot. Thanks for helping me find it again!
OMG I love Joan's voice. She should be a bigger star and Jewel is so beautiful .
Girl power at its musical best! There's something magical when women sing together. Think Emmy Lou, Dolly and Ronstadt.
I downloaded this live version on Napster in the early noughties! It was on my favs playlist. The memories :)

Heart goes out to the dear woman over the death of her 21 year old son Beckett. Heartbreaking 🥺😢🌷
Goes through me like a knife, beautiful cover of a masterpiece delivered with skill and honesty.
Now that is truly a SUPER group!

Melissa's version is my favorite. 😍
Search Daley’s version. It’s really good too.
Thanks for this post; hadn't heard Etheridge's version (Joan Armatrading & Melissa Etheridge are among my top favorite artists).

Well, definitely not disappointed in that. ))
horrible song
No. The song is phantastic. The rendition of the song however is plain awful. I will troll this clip to the end of my living days.
@@omnivorous65 Oh, you poor ones...so little taste. Well, there's always head banger music for you.

As it happens, I had Armstrading's album in the mid 70s, played it til it wore out.
@@carolclark8767 And you do not cringe at Etheridge's rendition?
Oh dear….it didn’t start off to bad but they tried to murder a great song by the end…
I’ll stick with Joan Armatrading’s original thanks
