If this song doesn’t make you smile and forget your problems for a few minutes then I feel bad for ya...
It is a big smile emoji
This song and Pavilion have that same effect.
=D
@MrShayne Agree. I generally dont value the work of copy cats anyway. Spend your time finding your own unique tone and voicing. As well as being creative. Its difficult but in the end you will gain a lot and contribute something unique and creative.
One can always listen to Eric Johnson if one likes this particular song.
Not a criticism - just a philosophical observation on music in general
Only thing is a health person in quarantine is a problem in itself, but I guess she had her seven Ibanez guitars to keep her company, nice playing.
her face of full happiness when the playing ends is priceless.
Her "balls out" attitude the entire video is SO fucking boss. She crushes it, and knows it.
She humbly knows she absolutely killed it!!
It’s interesting to see she doesn’t play many of these licks in the traditional shapes and positions. Suuuuper clean and and in time as well.
Well, neither does Eric Johnson. 🙃
@@dr.bunterhidenbrobruh5502 You’re right, but typically everybody tries to play the licks exactly like Eric did. For example, the galloping lick she plays in the Em pentatonic position instead of part of the G major scale. That’s more what I was pointing out, she plays them differently than everyone trying to copy Eric.
@@trentmckenzie343
My point is, regardless of whether you play the licks in the exact fret positions as EJ or not, he often used "unusual" fingerings and didn't always play within the typical "boxes/shapes" because he had such an incredible stretch/span, which gave him more options and flexibility to stretch across the fretboard and play patterns that would be very uncomfortable to someone like myself who can't palm a basketball, lol.
Not sure which part you're referring to with the "galloping lick" because I think of a gallop as a repeated eighth/sixteenth note pattern with a straight feel (think Iron Maiden bass lines) whereas this is mostly in a swing eighth/triplet feel.
Also (regardless of fingering) this should not be thought of as being played in Em, but rather G major - with the exception of course of the intro, before the song really starts, which I do think of as Em pentatonic(ish). Assuming what you meant by this is the pentatonic mode ("box/pattern") located from open to the 3rd fret (or 12th to 15th), but again I'm not sure the exact part you're referring to.
@@dr.bunterhidenbrobruh5502 Towards the end of the intro there’s an ascending/descending lick that’s got a gallop-type phrasing and utilizes string skipping. Eric plays it starting on the root note on fret 15 of the high E, and plays the 17th and 19th of the B, G, and D. It’s just before the last quick G major pentatonic run in the intro. She plays that lick in the E minor position of 12-15, which typically nobody does. But you are absolutely correct, he has insane span, as is evident in his live performance at Austin(?). The chords he plays are insanely difficult.
@@trentmckenzie343 Yeah the intro is obviously played in a different feel from the rest of the song and rooted more in Em until the last section right before the pedal riff where the song really "starts", which is based in G (relative keys but still important to note the difference).
I think I know the exact part you're talking about now. It's the ending of the final ascending major run and he climbs up to that "pedal" riff where he pedals the high G (15 on high E string) with the other notes you mentioned in between and repeats it a few times before the final descending run. Yes I noticed that was definitely a different way than I've played it before or seen anyone else play it, lol. Pretty interesting though. Hey, whatever works, as long as you get the right notes, right? That's the beauty of the guitar, we have the luxury of being able to play the same notes in different places so we have some choice in our fingerings which can provide some comfort. There are many riffs I play differently than the original artist, sometimes to the point where I criticize their fingerings - like WHY TF would you play it THAT way? Lol. I once read it's best to always use the fingering that's most comfortable and that you can make sound the best. The slight difference in tone will be the least of your worries. It's better than making a mistake trying to pull it off the "real" way. In the end all that will matter is how you can make it sound.
I'm 62 and have been playing guitar off and on since my teens. I'm humble about what I can and cannot play. Mostly, can't play. However, since watching guitarist on CZcams for years now, I'm so impressed by the caliber of talent in the young players today. I realize that tab and online lessons (which did not exist when I was in my 20's and 30's) help players these days, but I still think the talent, dedication and determination are the primary drivers of there players. NiliBrosh, you are such a good player. A joy to watch. Your focus, tone, speed....all of it make this cover something Eric himself would love watching. Bravo!!!!
Same age, same opinion. 100% agree!
Fantastic, how many talented players are on this planet, without bad attitudes! Being 58, I know that I always lacked talent and passion.
@@harrydehnhardt5092 11 years younger, but I'll third that opinion!
I can relate to you. During my time ... the only available material is the cassette tapes and my ears ... if there is only youtube back then ... I will learn all of this with ease ...
Next to you with my 59 yo. I was considered as a so good guitar player in my town...until I noticed few years ago some so better guitar players than me, and it was a good new and I still make progress today! And so this charming young woman gives me a lesson today! :-)
I love when dope covers show up in my recommendations
I love when my favorite creators like a video im watching ha
This isn’t a Dope cover it’s an Eric Johnson cover. Two totally different bands.
Hear-hear.
Lol. From one side of CZcams to another.
Nilli tet seš ty co nejsou žádné B ale a z 😈🎶🎶🎶🎶ok
OH... MY.... GOD.... You managed to play this song with the soul it has! I couldn't take my eyes off it! SUPERB! Congratulations from Brazil!
Bout time CZcams recommends something good.
Transgenders playing guitar?
Bubba Smollett you be funny Jussie! You in MAGA country

It just popped up on my feed, you sir are a man of great culture.
Well, that's the best 4 minutes I've spent for a while.
And now you can put your pants on.

That’s what she said
Agreed!!!
@@baglebites Good night, Michael Scott.
I cried when I saw this! Simply beautiful. She plays just flawless
Wow!... Blown away!... If I wasn't watching, I would've thought it was Eric himself. Utterly fantastic!...👍👌👏
Nili! You crushed this!! So good.
Wow my idol
Coleeeee
Do you reply plzzzz, your lile my faverout youtuber, and also my idol man your amazing ceep it up ❤👍
By far the best, most accurate cover of this on CZcams. 👍
Fuck learn to spell and don’t be a fucking cringe. 🤮 gross
I am 63 been playing professionally from 16 years old to until I was 45. I played this cover also and learned it for a year. But when I see her using different strings in different positions and still sounded almost the same, I am amazed. Young players now has the speed and the right picking technique. They have a lot of references and resources they need. I envy them because I learned it the hard way and it's by ears and informal training. God Bless you all . NiliBrosh you are an amazing guitar player. Thank you for this video.
Thats exactly what my guitar teacher told me,back in the day he had to rewind/fastforward the deck tape countless times and pick the songs by ear.
We are lucky to have the resources within a click.
you deserve more likes
Hahaha my dad recalls recording live performances and trying to watch their fingers on the fretboard... thank God for tabs
It's an invaluable skill to be able to learn things by ear...
Ditto!! 61 y/o here (and still at it), learned it by ear off cassette in completely different fingerings, and never got it as authentic as she has it.
A gold standard in covers, super clean
Bravo! With a standing ovation! You are the only artist other than Eric himself that truly played that song’s studio version!! Eric now-days cannot play it that clean. Just saw him 3 months ago. Excellent job young lady! I am 63…………
I tip my hat to anyone who can pull off Cliffs that smoothly. Excellent job. And you even closely captured Eric’s signature sound too. Amazing.
I can and I’m only 16 🤪
@@RJMStraya I haven’t thought about posting on CZcams yet, maybe if you have Snapchat give me and add and I’ll try show you. Cj.hopkins151 ✌️
She captured the one on fricken RG550
get your ears checked
This sounds nothing like erics tone, youve got shit in your ears mate
Pretty freakin' accurate version of this song! Also, the "feel" is there -- which is the most important part. Greatness!
That's the part I felt was missing a bit... she plays it much straighter than Eric, he swings it more. Definitely has the notes down though and that's no small achievement.
Bill Johnson yeah. I notice right away. All her pickups are very straight. Shes amazing but not playing the “shuffle” feel this song has.
4:06 I love this smile❤❤
You nail the "spirit" and euphoria of the tune right from the opening notes, which is what makes it special beyond just the notes (which you also nail). Marvelous!
That is one of the most technically perfect covers of a VERY difficult song I have ever seen. Speechless!!!!!
As Eric put it himself, guitar playing is about mastering all the little details, like sustaining and cutting off notes, and I must say I am impressed, I almost thought it was a fake, but I could not find any little element for this
Gotta agree. I have attempted this song several times and always trip up. She is simply amazing.
i prefer the way the little asian girl does it, whatever her name is i can't remember
Those 43 down arrows represent 43 guys who just put their guitars up for sale.
George Myers you REALLY think that’s what she did? Why?
Oh my. I'm laughing at that one all the way from Glasgow 🍀. And, also considering laying mine own guitar down.
Watch and listen carefully, Nili was playing and no software speed up, some people are talented.
Pretty much 🤣. I love seeing a woman who can legitimately slay it on the guitar like this.
Ha Ha. some would do that, others practice more intently.
Nili is a very determined guitar player. I can tell that when she decided to learn this she was unstoppable. Waking up at 3am and picking up the guitar because she couldn't get it out of her head I'm sure is not uncommon for this woman. Most of us dream about playing like this and some like Nili are talented and motivated enough to work as hard as it takes to make it happen. Good job Nili. I'm very proud of you!
What an absolute legend. My guitar and I are just staring at each other after having watched this video. We are both disappointed with ourselves now.
This was randomly suggested by CZcams and dang she killed it. And here I can barely tie my shoes
Anyone who would give this video a thumbs down must be jealous of how talented she is! Fantastic playing!
Girl on guitar. Some "men" can't handle that.
@@Obamafan6861
I would say then, they are not men. They are Misogynists.
same thoughts on that
@@Obamafan6861 You're kidding yourself if you don't think some girls hit that dislike button too.
@@PaulPaid Ehh lit the simps be they obviousy have no clue for the reasons some poeple hit the dislike button.
Holy WOW! Great job - just beautiful....
I know you hear it too often but WOW. To play good guitar is a challenge for most but to decipher Eric Johnson to your level of perfection is monumental. Very well done.
The 106 people who disliked are mad cause she's playing the certain riffs they can't get perfectly
I learned how to play this song years ago. The thing that I find so impressive about this performance is the attention to details. I can get through the tune and you can tell what it is but I am not doing it exactly like Eric. Her phrasing is incredibly close to the original. I have seen many ppl play this, including myself, and none of them nail the phrasing as close as this performance. Very impressive.
How long does it take for you to learn a song like this in its entirety?
@@ayo__ayo depends on your skill level
99.99% as close to Eric's recordings as humanly possible. Even the tone, just wow.
Spot on analysis. She’s not just playing through the licks, she’s getting the phrasing spot on which is next to impossible on something this acrobatic and all over the place and where the original player (Eric) has such a unique voice. It’d take me years to get to a level of performance on this track even remotely that close to the original.
@@ayo__ayo depends on your skills, methods and dedication. You might take a week practicing 8hours. Might take you a year
Clean and fluid. Well played. One of Eric’s most classically inspired pieces with monumental arpeggios! Huzzah
Young lady that is a kick-ass cover as good as any that I've seen on CZcams you definitely nailed that again great job beautiful cover.
Holy F*kn sh*t! I've never seen anyone cover Eric Johnson so perfectly! Being from Austin, I've been a fan of his for years, back when he was first starting. Seen him play in a few small clubs back in the day. Your perfect cover blew my mind.
Here is the most accurate of all the covers of the intro I have found on the net. After playing it side by side on my computer I can tell you the phrasing, tone and execution of every note is 99.99% accurate. czcams.com/users/results?search_query=chelsea+constable+white+clifs+of+dover
Me neither dude! Other than Eric if course
@@swampdog1592 I've played the bass part to this song so many times I'vw lost count in 30 years but listening to Nili do justice to the guitar part makes me jump up...it's very good!!!
WATCH Chelsea Constable play it
Check out Rick Graham's interpretation.
You learned this whole thing during quarantine. I can't even get it together to replace my missing high E string. Sigh...
Then your name should be "burned out since last Sunday" lol
And after she finished with that guitar, she had to throw it in the closet and dive for cover to avoid the cloud of shrapnel when it just blew the hell up. Outstanding!
Fantastic, Eric Johnson would be proud of the way you covered that!
I’m selling my gear and will just be content doing dishes and my other chores. Golly this lady can play! Well done!
I saw the original G3 tour with Satriani, Vai, and Eric Johnson and going into it I had no idea who he was really, I came to see the other 2. Eric Johnson friggin stole the show! This has been one of my favorite songs ever since. Great cover, and nice tone out of that Ibanez!
I found it funny they didn't include this in the G3 Live album.. oh well lucky you for getting to see it live!
And she plays a song by Eric Johnson, on an RG which was based on Steve Vai's JEM, on Satriani's signature amp. We went full circle there.
The fact you got to see G3 is so amazing! All those amazing guitarist together in one, you are so lucky!
@@Totone56 Well, kind of.. Except for that the Jem was loosely based on it's predecessor, the RG, a phenomenal 2 octave beast! She's very gifted! Congrats on nailing it on camera Miss!
Wow. Great cover. A lot of "Cliffs" covers are people playing all the notes, not people playing the song. You really played the song. Awesome job.
tone and intonation are excellent Wow just wow!
Well done young lady, well done. Did Eric Johnson proud...
Awesome! A very difficult piece.
you talking about the music or her? :)
@@WillsEasyGuitar YES... the answer to that question is YES.
EJ, probably my all time favorite guitarist and arguably one of the finest on the planet. She does a great job emulating him here, a tall order to say the least! Seen her at a local BBQ/beer joint a few years ago, put on a great show, wish she'd come back ... and play that for an encore too!!
@Joe _ Rochester, NY.
Never get tired of watching you!! Watched this video several times... Simply spectacular! Superb!
I've watched many people cover Dover and there are a lot worthy of playback, but your intonation, timing, and feel of Eric's phrasing is phenomenal. My hats off to you. Seeing a chic pull a mean vibrato with her pinky is totally off the charts!
Nice work. Eric's going to be proud when he sees this.
Maan, She uses totally different finger patterns than the original and manages to make it work anyways... Awesome
I noticed that too. Not much loss of tone or feel for it. Most people clam the hell out of this song
100%...The result was a pleasant surprise. Nice job Nili!
Agree great job. I learned it long ago trying to match the way Eric's finger patters are and it's brutal how he does it, but Nili makes it work!!!
That's because she's not playing it.
@Thomas Grey Eric is basically the Sergei Rachmaninoff of guitar, his hand size and finger length is simply unfair...
Simply amazing! You are incredible!
Absolutely right on! I've been listening to this song for years. Such a clean and very precise performance!
No one will ever be able to play it like Eric, but she’s doing very awesome. Keep shredding🤘🏽
I listened with headphones and this is about as close as you can get. Shockingly Good!
eric doesnt play it like eric no more...
she is closer to the 1980 eric that he is now.
its life.
and its awsome
I am 62 and have been playing guitar since college back in the early 1970's and I could not even begin to play this great song. What an awesome job you did here. I think you even played it note for note more than Eric does in his various live versions. Well done.
Best cover I've seen and heard. Perfect timing, control and accuracy. Amazing!
Nailed it! Fantastic cover…so glad this showed up in my feed.
WOW!!! Never thought I'd see ANYONE else play that song who isn't Eric Johnson, while wearing an 80's style marching band jacket!! Got to love the 80's style!
You nailed it, great playing and very cool to see it played in it's entirety!!
I really wanted to learn that too! I ended up watching Friends reruns instead.
I have watched this a few times over the last year or so. I can say after 40 yrs of playing I am blown away it warms the heart that players are kicking arse and taking names. What an amazing job kuddos to you!!
You absolutely crushed it!!! So thankful for your incredible precision and tone!!
I just hope Eric Johnson has seen this cover and gave Nili a well deserved shout-out.
This song broke my spirit trying to learn it.
Im 53 and have played 36 years and still can’t play this. What an amazing gift you have. Respect

That ending is so hard. EJ is a monster
So amazing! What an awesome guitar player. Thank you for taking me on that journey!
No matter how many times I watch this, that smile at the end is the icing on the cake.

Pretty much the best version I have ever heard. I closed my eyes, I couldn't tell the difference.
NiliBrosh...PLEASE HAVE BABIES...LOTS! The world needs more players like you!!
Yeah exactly my point that's what else I was going to say is that she makes it look so easy and effortless
COMPLETELY OFF THE HOOK!!! OMG...Nili, you are so awesome. The first time I saw you was on stage with McAlpine and I had to scoop my jaw up off the floor and immediately obtain emergency maxillofacial surgery to reattach it. YOU ROCK HOMEGIRL!!!!!!!!!!1
Amazing technique that proves your discipline in your practice. I need to take heart to this and go back to the woodshed for serious brush up instead of just having fun. I'm floored.
My favorite Nili video !!! 🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘
Probably the best cover I have ever seen. Simply amazing! The face shows how much effort is put to play this cover and at the same times how much pleasure these riffs give you. Nili, this vid amazed me: WOW!
Aaaaaaa! I love you so much. My girl slaying on the tune that made me want to play guitar! 😭💕
Gretchen Menn, you my lady are a beast of a player yourself. I would love to see you and Nili Brosh jam together. Stay safe.
If you can play this song you're damn good.
You did a great job! Eric Johnson.. One of the all time greats and you nailed it! You rock!
I love your smiles throughout this harrowingly difficult, and ridiculous riffage! You're always having fun first, which is AMAZING, given how outstanding your playing is!! YOU ARE A GUITAR GODDESS!!!!
Nailed it girl. Made me fall in love the song again. You go girl.

Love this song and I haven't heard it in such a long time. You played it perfectly, Nailed!
It’s AMAZING! BRILLIANT!😀❤️
Just love it! Thank You, Nili!🥰🌹
Ive been watching a lot of cliffs of dover covers. What I love most about this one is when im listening to the actual studio version in my head while im listening to yours.... you’re timing is spot on. PERFECT.
Fantastic and I love the Ibanez. A real rock n roll guitar!
I could listen to this version a hundred times on single play repeat.
Great sound, great technicality!
Outstanding!
I'll just pick my jaw up off the floor long enough to say I've never seen anyone flat pick the hybrid/chicken pickin' part... love the individual flair with those hammer-ons and playing the chorus lower on the neck than EJ does. Just brilliant!
All the while, my Ibanez is just sitting there looking pretty as it waits for me to pick it up.
This was AMAZING!
There really are no words to describe how much I love your cover...
That was truly a STUNNING rendition of an incredibly hard song to play... BRAVO!
Cliffs of dover is a "hand full" to play and Eric Johnson makes it almost look easy. Excellent job Nili! I've listened to that song about a thousand times and know every note.. You nailed it.
Should be a crime to dislike this stellar cover of Johnson's masterpiece. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even jealous haters. Bravo Nili Brosh, you killed it!!!
ooh i've watched a few covers and this my favourite ooh yea
Magnificent. Your proficient genius is a true delight. Bless you for sharing your immense talent.
I have taught this lead to several students and I know how hard it is. There are certain places (in both the melody and the solo) where Eric plays what sound like impossible transitions, but they really amount to smooth, masterful sweep picking, something most guitarists never really learn. You nailed ALL of those places eloquently and even improved on a couple of them. My hat's off to you darlin' -- you absolutely nailed it. Please accept my most sincere congratulations on a fabulous rendering. Well done!
This cover tops all iv herd...Her setup and effects are spot on, Beautiful Timing Ibanez sounds way more vivid than a strat. .I LIKE IT
I remember the first time I heard this song in high school--and here it is, still inspiring people to absolutely crush it on their covers.
Have tears in my eyes. Beautiful.
Fantastic rendition, with flawless phrasing. Close your eyes, and it's Eric Johnson. Amazing work!
I was writing a comment long as a last will, praising your playing, technique and feeling. I deleted it and I just want to say that you played that difficult song perfect. Tone was also perfect, and you played it enjoying every note, and that is all that matters. Keep being happy playing, enjoy your beautiful music.
Most excellent. This is such a busy song with lots of intricate phrasing. One of my favorites. I first heard this song shortly after EJ released it. I was stunned. Thank-you for keeping this song current for a new audience. Well done!
I've heard this song probably over a hundred times, but clearly not enough times to remember all these different notes and sections... im more impressed by just the ability to remember all these notes in order... amazing job
One of these days I need to get my ass down and learn this thing..Its such a joyous song......I kinda know the theme a bit but I need to nail this...I love the song!!! Excellent performance as always by Nili!
