TeeMars were wonderful enough to send me one of their Sourdough Starter Kits! I am working on my starter with it in this video and I'm looking forward to attempting to bake some loaves using their food grade BPA free Silicone proofing baskets in the next few weeks after having the thermometer helps me to get my starter in peak condition! It actually floated yesterday! woohoo! :D

The Inkbird Thermometer I use, they do have cheaper models but this one is USB-C chargeable rather than batteries and tolerates getting splashed etc, I've tried a few models and this is my fave.

I'm with your kids, Cold homemade sausage rolls are awesome with tomato sauce. They taste different but still so amazing. Lucky kids.
A great way to use up your pork if you want to, is sweet and sour pork. There are some great channels that show how to make takeaway style. I think you can freeze it after you fry it, like you do with the chicken strips and just make fresh sauce, but not 100% certain. Although on some US channels, I've noticed they can buy it frozen as a meal with a sauce packet in bags, so maybe worth a try.

Those sausage rolls looked incredible! I did a huge (for us!) Costco meat run today and it was about $450 CAD but I got a brisket (which will be 3 large crockpot roasts), a strip loin (for 15+ steaks), a pack of pork ribs, a trio of whole chickens, a big bag of battered cod, and a bag of shrimp. Also 4 butters @ $5.69 each. Ouch! Should last the 3 of us for a while!!

I always love your video's. I am glad to see that you are getting offers from sponsors. ( Maybe consider having your eldest daughter, as a language arts project. By her writing letters to request sponsorship from products that you could use/would benefit you, and or benefit your children. Those could be short separate video's with sponsors links, but many companies just don't seek out content creators. Especially kitchen, cooking, grilling, smokers, bakeware, and even solar energy components. Just a thought. She can sing your praises about multiple country exposure to your channel, etc.😊😊

Those sausage rolls looked amazing!!! Puff pastry is so extremely expensive here that we never buy it except on rare occasion. You are very lucky that your Costco sells it!
I went to culinary school and even my chefs all said puff pasty and phyllo pastry are the hardest to make puff pastry takes hours upon hours and costs a lot to make due to the butter amount factor

I am late commenting, so I don't know if you will see this. Could you rough mince a roast, vacuum seal it until you get the sausage casings, then, run through as finer mince to fill casings? Just a thought. Thank you for sharing, Nyssa.

Wish you were able to combine your trip down for when Daryl goes to his church thing, but I myself wouldn’t be able to leave my kids alone for that long. No, not yet, they're not capable of being alone that long yet... D and I always talk about a trip for my 50th, lol, that being the earliest we'll prob leave them alone for any length of time unfortunately :D
The shoulder is a lot better now, obviously it was a bit of an inflammation flare, I could barely use it for a little while there, but I baby'd it and so long as I don't over use it, it's pretty tolerable again atm!

For the chicken loaf, have you considered adding a couple of teaspoons of gelatin to the mixture? It might help it hold together much better considering it will be chilled after cooking.

I asked about your burn a while ago but it didn’t look horrible, just sore!! I burned stripes on the insides of my wrists once on an oven rack, and I had a job interview the next day 😢 Burned my wrists, dropped the tray, grabbed it and burned some more stripes 😅🥹 I think they thought the worst & I didn’t get the job.

Have you considered doing a halfway shop, both time wise and travel wise and shop at that cheap fruit market in Toowoomba, perhaps make yourself known there?
The cheap fruit market in Toowoomba, I assume Betros might be what you're referring to ? I tried pricing from them in boxes because apparently they sell wholesale too, and it was far far far too expensive :S. I get such a good deal from Adam that I don't know that anyone else could come close.

We've been there a few times, sometimes get some good deals but the times I've tried to contact them to see whats available wholesale/by the box they haven't been very receptive unfortunately. We got a whole bin of apples one year cheap from them which was amazing, but yeah, its been a bit hit and miss, and its still a really long way to go without being able to get any sort of decent replies from them.

Would others in your area, say those who get the hamper etc, be willing to create a group with yourself over summer and you all did a fruit and veg run to Adam in bulk with whatever fortnightly deals he can do? Even 3 or 4 families would mean you are each only doing the drive once every 6-8 weeks. Just a thought lol.
Also do you add onion or any seasoning to your sausage rolls? Or just the bacon and bacon. Either way they look delicious 😊😊
I'm not a very personing person lol, I know its bad of me, but I just don't people very well and don't have a lot to do with anyone around, D handles most of the socialisation for him and the kids lol.
I'm pretty sure I added some of my caramelised onion jam in this batch! but if I didn't have that I'd probably caramelise some onions to add when I did the bacon etc!

So sorry about your hand. I have a toaster oven I use not to frequently and I seem to burn myself on it every time. The glass doors get very hot.

Home made sausage rolls are the best and the only type I’d eat cold with glee. Mind you I have nether thought of putting zucchini in the mix. Must make some sausage rolls soon. What exactly have you done to your shoulder? I know you have mentioned it a few times over a long period but not sure on what’s caused it. Hope you can get it fixed. My back isn’t great at the moment nor is my left hip. Don’t really know why but both give pain prangs far too often. I am after another load of soil for gardening and another load of some sort of earth to build up a water barrier. Fair weather for a few days is coming so hope to get those soils soon. Your set up for the starter and new items look great. It’s a quandary for the car and upcoming trips to Brissy. Need to get it into the mechanic soon it seems. Ours offers a car when he has ours for a few days, which is helpful but the size would not help with a big shop nor if think he’d not want us driving for hours at one time.
@@carolynrose9522 the doc suggested bursitis and impinged rotator but I never managed to get the ultrasound because I couldn’t drive, but if that’s what it is it will recur :s
But I have a lot of nerve issues with the TN and carap tunnel etc too so I have issues with sciatica and back and stuff with nerves so it might be part of that too, who knows!

None of my other cheeses have cashews in them, and this one would probably set without tbh, it just adds a little bit of a firmer texture to it, but bumping the gelatin would work too, and miso is really nice instead of tahini as well!
I am not a huge fan of cashews in my liquidy sauces, so many people use them, but I find even with the Thermomix, they end up slightly gritty, which is not a bad thing in a slicing cheese, but in a liquid....

Not feasible unfortunately, we can't all leave at the same time, nor do we have anywhere to stay if it was all of us etc :)
Nor would they all be able to travel in their only vehicle as it wouldn’t be big enough for everyone plus the groceries. There’s barely enough room for Nyssa with all the groceries, let alone space for Darryl & six kids! But perhaps you don’t appreciate enough about their situation to realise that.

Am interested in wildlife on your property. You read so much about dangerous snakes and other animals Australia. Can kids wander freely on your property?
There’s always a risk of snakes but the kids are educated on how to respond if they spot one and it is important to educate them. But they’re not in huge abundance, part of that is that we have dogs, but we also have free ranging Guinea fowl and geese, both of which deter snakes because they’ll attack them and they’re loud :)
Like in most cases, even the dangerous critters are more scared of you than you are of them, so as long as they leave them alone they’ll leave the kids alone :)
But we do have discussions about what to do if you see critters you don’t know anything about etc :)
