      I will be, it's just going to take me a little time. I'm hoping to start putting something together (a plant vid) next weekend. That video will most likely be about me getting the nook ready for winter. Adding Additional lighting and winter fertilizing. I'll include watering and how I up pot. The way I water insures I spend time with and get to enjoy my plants more frequently, this helps me keep up with any issues as soon as they start. I know daily watering sounds like work, but it's actually a relaxing way to start my day or how I unwind after work. Thank you for the comment, they help me plan for and improve future videos.

    You have a lot of plants!!!! How large is this main room and how many of the light fixtures (4 tubes each) do you have in it? Your room is wonderful! Do you keep low tech planted tanks (without added co2)? I set up a lot of my plants in wicking pots to make it easier on me.

    spectacular plants, 5500 degrees kelvin is the temperature of sunlight, 6400 degrees kevin represents natural light in the shadow, an easy way to see it is if you have a camera, if you put 5500 degrees kevin in a photo with shadows and light from the sun you will see that the shadows look bluish, the degrees kelvin are not the intensity of the light, it is how we measure where it is in the spectrum, for example a tungsten bulb that gives warm light is 3200 degrees kelvin (orange light )

    • @junglenook
      @junglenook  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Thank you and yes, when I started talking about light and said 6400 k is ok for tropical house plants I meant the color spectrum. I misspoke when talking about light intensity at the plant, I kept saying Kevin instead of LUX.

    Wooooow, your Plants are beautiful ❤️....I have Plants as well but can't water them everyday....I pay close attention to see who needs water and I water them....I wanted to repot some of them but we're in the Fall season now and I can't repot anyone....I have about Three that needs repotting..... If you can give me some helpful tips I appreciate it.... We're all in this together....Thank you so much 💕

    • @junglenook
      @junglenook  Před 11 měsíci +1

      It may be better to repot them now if they are root bound. however, if you're dividing them or doing any root pruning, I would wait till spring. As long as the room there in stays in the high 60's Fahrenheit with proper lighting, up potting shouldn't be a problem. If the humidity drops as, it does in winter try keeping them clustered closely together and putting trays with water under them. As far as watering, you're doing exactly what you should, water them as needed not on a schedule. I really need to make a video showing how I water, I made the video by request explaining how I care for my plants. I didn't realize how I water would be such a big deal, it's not necessary to have healthy, happy plants and can cause all sorts of problems if not done properly. :)

    beautiful nook! im hooked.
    Do you use all 6 tube lights on your fixtures, or just 4? And how many hours per day do the lamps run?

    • @junglenook
      @junglenook  Před rokem +1

      4 and 10-12 hrs for about 9 months then I cut it back to 8 hrs for 3 months in winter when I let them rest when the house is naturally cooler, I water less then too. I do this to recreate the change in the season so they can prepare for the next growing season. I'm going to talk about this in a future ep. 8 hrs of light is plenty to keep them healthy and still putting out new growth just at a slower rate.

    Hi, just found your channel recently; thanks for the tip. I was wondering how long it took for the golden pothos to 'fatten' up on the stem and grow big upward?

    • @junglenook
      @junglenook  Před 11 měsíci

      I started it as a single node cutting, it took about a month before it established new roots and started growing a vine. After that it took 9 months to get to the size in that video. The thicker the vine is when you start it the better. Would have grown faster with better light..

    Which part of the world you are living?

  • @UncleCloud
    @UncleCloud Před 11 měsíci

    Sorry, but at that distance not even the most expensive light set would do much for plants, unless equipped with some focusing lenses. There is some etiolation going on obviously, but I bet those windows are doing most of the heavy lifting growing the plants. Light scattering is brutal for everything that's not a giant explosion in the sky.

      Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your comment. First, I'm not an expert and second, I'm not arguing or disagreeing with you. Actually, I'm hoping you could have a conversation with me to share some of your insight, advise and recommendations.

    • @junglenook
      @junglenook  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Of the two window the northwest facing window gets about four hrs. of morning light that illuminates half the room and the southeast window only gets two hrs. starting at noon and only reaches into the room about 0.9 meters. However, from late fall until mid-spring the amount of light last twice as long or more but in the center of the room the top half of the room gets no (direct) natural light I did look up light scattering but not really sure if I am understanding it or how its influence the plants. The fixtures are between 1.9-2.5 meters from the floor and the do have reflectors that focuses the light somewhat but not in a tight beam. The room is 5.5 meters across with 14, 1.2 meter grow tubs T5 6400k each on for 10-12 hrs. I did order a lux meter.

    • @UncleCloud
      @UncleCloud Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@junglenook Not trying to be confrontational or anything, sorry if it came out like that. Getting lights just right is a frustrating experience.
      It's just that light particles scatter all over the place. Even very decent lamps in a perfect environment of a reflective tent lose majority of their effectiveness at half a meter.
      You mentioned LEDs and maybe switching to them would be a good idea. You could get more light without increasing the wattage and spread them around more.

    • @junglenook
      @junglenook  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Thank you, you did not come across confrontation at all, I did not want to seem defensive. I am going to be getting some LEDs to supplement the existing tight. Thanks for watching and welcome to the channel.
