Thank you Mike for posting this video. Between the Pure Drive and the Pure Aero which is better for you? Since I was a teenager I used the old Pure Drive (Carlos Moya version) and now I have this Pure Aero but I still feel that it doesn't fit me very well yet.
The paintjob is very good.I play in clay and there are no scratches in the frame in contact! In a head boom i used for a while the damage was visible in one or two contacts!!
There was also a rattling noise with the yellow green version pure aero I have used but I have sold it because it was not a comfortable racquet. Good thing you pointed it out.
Technically you can't hear that during match play. And you and everyone who bought this racket are part of the problem. Quality goes down when demand goes up. Factory likely was rushed, instead of handling it like fine wine.
Great review Mike! 300g 100 sq inch racquets are not my cup of tea and this seems to be no different. I prefer the new Pure Aero 98 which I’m currently using, weighted up to 12oz and it is a solid racquet! For the styling, I love the glossy finish as the colors look deeper where as if it were matte, the colors would look dull. I don’t like that Yonex doesn’t make their racquets glossy for us, but on TV, the Yonex players have glossy finished frames. With Babolat it’s glossy for us and for the pros which I appreciate!!
They used to make them gloss in the vcore SV days that one looked great. Did a review of the 98 a few weeks ago and loved it. Just a better put together package compared to the 100
Hello, nice video. In terms of control, maneuverability and arm comfort (I have some elbow problems) which racket is better Vcore 98 2023 or Tecnifibre Iso 305 or Babolat pure Aero 2023?
I’m playing the 2022 Head Speed MP as an aggressive baseline player. I use a semi western grip and like pace. Would the aero line be better to switch to? I’ve never played the aero. Slowly switching from Wilson’s pro staff series after 10 years. Couldn’t generate enough pop with the prostaff.
Great and to the par content mate. I own and play with the 2010 GT model which I feel it’s the best line including the 2005 woofer cause they feel “solid”. I will be demoing this 2023 tomorrow. Hope it’s not as the same garbage feel as the two previous lines.
Mike Hi, you mentioned that you can get this racket in a different paint job, the pure Rafa, but there are other differences than just the paint yeah? No dampening technology I've heard?
What do you think about the Pure Aero Rafa Origin specs? Would you review the frame? I think as a collectible it would be awesome, but seriously playing with it would be difficult.
Like the RF autograph I think it’ll be an awesome racquet but not suited for most people. Have to be pretty fit in the shoulders and have great technique not to pick up injuries playing with it. I hope to review it this summer!
@@MikeKomen I look forward to your review of the frame. I know a lot of people dislike the paint job, but I like how modern and edgy the paint job is. I think it also would be cool to see a reissue of the gen 1 aeroprodrive paint job. There were lots of fans of that first edition frame.
Thank you for this excellent review, I always trust your opinion, Yeah if a racquet makes some weird nosie I'm done! lol 😅 (of course I fully understand all of the possibilities) thanks again man 👍🎾💯❤️🙏
@@MikeKomen forsure understandable, I have a few older Aeros, I never thought I got the right setup in any of them (my fault) I guess most guys say the 2013 version is the best, I have one, IDK 🙏👍
Hey Mike, the cheap plastic feel and rattling dates back to 10-15 years ago with babolat. I've heard pure drives and strikes rattle and it really affects performance as well, so it's a well known babolat trait of poor quality control in the molds.
The cheap plastic feel and rattling goes back even further than that, I bought a 2nd gen pure drive + in 2003 and I couldn't believe what a cheap peace of crap it felt like. I eventually added about two ounces of lead tape and started using natural gut in the mains which improved the playability greatly!
I’d say they are pretty even but they play quite different. You should definitely test before you buy to see if you like the extra spin. Hope that helps!
@@MikeKomen thanks Mike bought an Aero after demo and for the fun of it bought an Extreme MP good price £140. Short practice today I think the Aero feels better slightly, more power if that continues I may sell the extreme and buy another Aero or use the Extreme as a backup should a string break. Thanks for your help.
@@MikeKomen serves are booming and volleys are some of the best I have hit. This racquet also has lower stiffness and works really well for my flat Groundies. Very impressed!
4:43 Most important part of the review! I heard this on more reviews. Hollow, tinny, cheap sounding and feeling frame. That alone is a deal breaker for me.
@@MikeKomen I know what you mean. To me (and most others I think) a tennis racquet should feel solid and well built. The last thing you want is a cheapish plasticky hollow sound when you hit the ball. EVEN if it seems to disappear after a while. Luckily we have YOU 😉😊to test these sticks before we spend our hard earned money. For which I thank you my good man. Keep up the good work. Cheers.
@@MikeKomen is the racket ping a big deal? i hit with a dampener so im not sure if itll improve with that. any chance you would know? thanks for replying btw!!
@@MikeKomen oh damn, okay. that’s gonna be annoying. i am currently on the ezone 2020 so i might have to demo this pure aero before swapping out. i hit with an eastern forehand and would this stick be okay or is it more geared towards semi w / western?
@@MikeKomen i can only find product description on babolat tennis youtube, but no one do a review, even better a comparison between evo aero and pure aero
Some players that endorse it are Rafael Nadal, Leylah Fernandez, Félix Auger-Aliassime, and Carlos Alcaraz but they use a specific version made special for them 😁
His forehand is a little unorthodox but does it ever move quickly through the court! Makes him hard to play against, that’s why our points were so short either a winner or a miss 😅 I try my best to get different people on to show different playing styles
@@MikeKomen For the Babolat I'd say the Original Aero Pro Drive, that came out in 2004. For any racquet there are many nice looking racquets but I say the current Wilson Blade, the one Raducanu uses. I like that matt green finish. They sell one or used to from the Wilson pro shop that has a gloss finish but to me the matt looks better. What is your favorite racquet by looks, Mike?

With a price of $309 +tax CAD really disappointing to hear that this continues to be an issue :(

Seems the PD 2012 had a better gloss finish. This one looks very cheap in person like you said. ($$$) A combo of gloss and satin parts is ufff 👌🏼

You’ll get more swing speed, spin, and a bit more power. You’ll loose a little control and it’s not as good as the speed on flatter shots.

Thanks Roger! Let me know what you think of it after your hit
Oh btw, watch video on racquet guy, he also notices the ping notice and the string huge inconsistencies of the spacing strings from center to edge.
I’ll check out their video
how's your comparison? I also play with the 2010 GT model and am keen to find out more about your experience! Thanks!
Mike Hi, you mentioned that you can get this racket in a different paint job, the pure Rafa, but there are other differences than just the paint yeah? No dampening technology I've heard?
Yeah there is a Rafa origin version that has the same specs as Rafa’s actual racquet
What is the string, guage, and tension? Nice review I bought this recently.
Head hawk touch 17 in black. Solid string

do radical and pure aero 98!!
I’ve got the aero 98 but it’s titled pure aero VS review
The rafa paint job pure aero isn't just a reskinned pure aero. It's an entirely different racquet

What does the “Pure” mean in the pure aero?
Pure
I agree the shiny looks cheap and Walmarty
Another Tennis Reviewer from Chech Republic - Tennis Guy has mentioned the same "rattling" noise coming from the frame.
Hopefully they can get that sorted out for the next version
Great review Mike
Thanks Steve I really appreciate it!

Pretty sure it’s graphite
The ball on 5:27 was in😐

Thanks for the support! Quality is always top of mind with everything coming out of No Rest Apparel 😁
How does this feel against the Ezone 100 2020?
