アーケード版としては2作目となる横スクロールアクションゲーム「ゴールデンアックス」の続編。前2作からキャラクターが一新され、レバーとボタンの組み合わせで出せる必殺技が「回転アタック」「ダッシュアタック」そして同時プレイ時に可能となる「サイクロンアタック」と増え、「システム32」の性能により魔法のビジュアルも大幅に強化されている。また最大4人までの同時プレイが可能となり、ステージ途中には進行コースに分岐点が登場。全5ステージで、分岐を含めると総計7ステージとなる。
ストーリー:
剣と魔法で邪悪なモンスターと闘ったマジカルファンタジー「ゴールデン アックス」。その物語が伝説になった時代に、またもや不気味なモンスターたちが地上を支配しようとしていた。スタンブレード、ドーラ、ゴア、リトル･トリックスの4人の戦士は、人々を苦境の中から救うために、新たなるヒーローとして闘いに挑もうとしていた。彼らの活躍で、再び世界は平和を取り戻せるか。

Like it's legendary prequel, 1989's "Golden Axe"; 'Revenge' is sideways scrolling beat-em-up set in a traditional fantasy world, in which the evil 'Death Adder' has arisen to take over the lands. The game supports simultaneous four-player gameplay, with each player taking on one of the game's characters. The four available characters are 'Sternblade' (a barbarian warrior), 'Dora' (a female centaurian), 'Goah' (a giant with a dwarf sitting atop his shoulders) and 'Little Trix' (an agile, oriental-style warrior).

From 1992 and looks and plays better than most Beatemups from the late 90's or even the 2000's. People dont give this game enough credit, still Top notch to this day. It's incredibly fluid animations with such detailed 2D graphics are a rarity in all videogame history.
@@Asterion608 and it's one of the few brawlers that allows for multiple players to work together and perform some devastating slams. The only other game to do that is Night Slashers by Data East
Excelente juego esos tiempos buen juego que divertía y entretenia jugandolo como otros del mismo en otra versión este es el mejor y más entretenido por sus misiones y poderes de cada personaje y sus animales de batalla etc. 👍

時折日本版を選ばないでプレイすることあるけど理由あるの？仕様が違う？それともただの気まぐれ？
This game was good but character design was ridiculous and did not inspire me to play it often
