Hey! Thanks for the shout-out. To clarify, I'll be thru hiking the entire Appalachian Trail in 2025 starting on April 22nd. Thanks again!
Thanks for the correction! Best of luck! I’ll add you to ham alert.
Will follow your progress , when you get to my neck of the woods (100 mi wilderness) Ill try and be a trail angel for ya.
@@JoeBieniecki thanks! That will be amazing!
Happy to see the SDRA cap on your swag bag!!! You are always welcome to come down to the DR and get to know our country. We can do POTA, SOTA and BOTA all in one day!!! 73 DE HI8ESF
"We should probably talk about that." So went the conversation with Leah upon your return. 🤣
Listen to our latest podcast, I got outed during it :D
Flex radio is probably a radio outside the realm of most amateur radio enthusiasts but in your hands, and with your grace, I enjoy the journey alongside as you operate this wonderful equipment. I am looking forward to logging in each week to your show to 'enjoy' your new purchase. No guilt there Josh, you deserve it.
I would have considered this radio but I need to have MARS capability……
We built the little dx dipole kit for a club project recently. We did not solder onto the rulers though.
I didn't slip, I just had a non-voluntary Stuart (from MadTV) moment... also, don't wear crocs on near mirror finished concrete while it's wet.
Thats the best sticker logo ive ever seen ! Love it ! K9TPT
“Look what I can do!”
Awesome haul! I wish we had them down here. Maybe I can make it to the next one up there. :)
With a scooter and a service dog, I can never get close enough to the booths to get any swag. But I did get Tank Radio and Ham Radio 2.0 stickers this year. Hamvention is always a great time, especially meeting other hams and attending the interesting presentations.
73,
N8KKK
Bruh! Your fellow hams are failing you!I wasn’t there, but we need to do a better job of hooking a brother up and making sure you get swag!
@@gregiep It was SOOOO crowded -they’d have to make a pretty big hole. 😏
I snagged that TX-500 mic/breakout too. It's always fun to see what everyone snags at the show! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I’ve preordered one of K8MRD’s 20’ POTA masts. I’ve been using a collapsible Japanese fishing pole, which on the flimsy side. I can’t wait to try Mike’s. 👍🏼
I tested it last night. It’s great. I’ll be getting some portable ops done this weekend. Should work great!
BROOO! You just took a huge leap in rank with this video my man, particularly with your Warbond Medal pin! It's like two worlds just collided and it blew my mind a little bit. For Democracy!
Hell Yeah!
It was the first thing I noticed! For Democracy!
Glad you got a lot of response on the patch!
Me too! Thanks!!
Another fun video, I did not make it to the convention. I bought a D75A HT the other day and I reached out to Kenwood for the In Depth Manual they said, they were only available at the convention, which was a bummer. I called HRO and they hooked me up with one, a shout out to HRO Milwaukee!!!! Glad you had a great time at Hamvention.
Very cool!
More in depth than their .pdf version? So I take it you wanted a paper version. Their .pdf is more in-depth than I even need but it doesn't help with the fact that I can't get DSTAR on it to work using the either the Windows USB connected version of Blue DV or the bluetooth version. I really can't get help anywere. I did get a DSTAR registration and have carefully followed videos but to no avail.
Congrats on the 8600 - can't wait to see what you think of it. On the fence for one for a while now.
You and me both!
Love to see you rocking the "POTA Crew" shirt. Hopefully you will have a package in the mail from us in the next day or two. It was great meeting you saturday evening. Glad to see you made it home safely. Until next time, Pota on!.
KE8TUW, with the Black Swamp Amateur Radio Club.
Awesome, I'm looking forward to it! Thanks!
Josh, pleased to see you had a properly dressed Hamvention ticket with the Crew 73 purple lanyard and accessorized with the patch. Thanks for supporting Crew 73.
Thank!
Love Hill People Gear chest rig! I thought that’s what you were wearing.
Didn't see all the free stuff, but I really don't talk to people at the booths. I did get the $20 at DX engineering, used that on a 7300. The YL won a Yeasu HT, so it was a good event.
Flexing the Flex. Playing with the big boys now.
I’m excited.
Sorry we missed running into you at Hamvention...hope to CU next year! 73 - Dino KLØS
Very cool loot review. I should have bugged more people for swag and stickers.
The had NIFOG manuals at one of the booth! 👌
Welcome to the Flex family! We'll be setting up our 8600s at the same time! We'll maybe do a stream!
Sounds good!
I put an order in as well for the 8600 so it will be fun to follow along with you all. 73
@@offgridpete1835 Oh buddy! Diving in head first too!
@@HamRadioCrashCourse That’s the only way! Haha
The DX engineering guys keeps saying that the QR code on that plastic dipole maker went directly to the page to show you how to make the antenna….it does not.
POTA: Parachutes On The Air!
Thanks for the video! Links for the Kevlar thread in the floss box and the wacky usb plug please
It used to be here: countycomm.com/ I can't find it now.
Crap - Forgot to give ya a sticker! (Even though you are not a sticker collector)
What happened to the video from a few hours ago. I walked away from it for a minute on pause then came back to replay it and it said video was private. Now its gone from my history. Was it deleted or blocked
I would say the cw touch pads looks more durable the mechanical keys look like in true field use would not last long
What does “in true field use” mean?
@@HamRadioCrashCourse I honestly more or less just ment with the mechanical keyer if it broke which to me looks not hard to do, that without replacement parts available it would leave you sol, field use to me would be survival radio, no replacement parts easily available, i admit to possibly speaking out of turn as have never owned the radio and my opinion was based on your video alone
"Survival radio" isn't really a thing. Even robust radios like the TX-500 depend on fragile interfacing devices and other things that can and do fail. Better protection for all the gear is always the best policy.
So just to recap , correct me if I am wrong , it sucks the tip out of the mast , every time you pull it out ? Also and to confirm , was it the suction or the friction that sucks the tip out of the mast every time you pull it out ?
At this point I’m going suction.
I have a D75,
Nice. Get that document!
Josh did you get one of the Kenwood D75 pins ?
I did, yes.
Is that the medium chest bag or the full bag ?
I believe the full SAR bag
You lost me. You state that the Flex radio is an expensive radio that most of us can'y afford yet your new content will be about setting up a new Flex. Those of that can't can "live viciously" through you. Thanks but no thanks.
Well bye I guess. If you think *all* my content will about a single radio you’re probably new here.
A used Flex 6300 or 6400 and a new Flex 8600 are far more similar than they are different. A used 6300 or 6400 is very approachable if you are interested in that class of gear.
Great video, I picked up a d75-a from gigparts while i was there. Great getting to meet you saturday at the troll. Did you get your black swamp shirt yet? de K8CAG. Cody
Great to meet you. No shirt yet. 👍
@@HamRadioCrashCourse it went out on Tuesday so you should have it anytime
That’s awesome. Thank you!
