    You basically set up a sniper hide in your car...with the same purpose of surveillance. Very clever.
    I might have to get these things just for personal safety and burglary deterrence. This setup would highly disrupt any possible casing.
    Thank you.

    20 years with Homeland Security Investigations, I always thought that sunvisor thing was completely stupid and artificial. You knock it out of the apartment that is perfect. I used to use a black mosquito net and sat in the backseat. Your method is much better. Kudos to you would’ve never thought of that and I’ve been doing this for 20 years

      Thanks! Although your method works too, and kudos on coming up with that concealment. It's all about improvising and finding something that works! In AZ the sun visor is more common, but not so much when sitting in a neighborhood in a vehicle that doesn't belong...

      @@Huero805 The mesh screen is great for breaking up the body profile, but is used in context with other techniques of concealment. Like I mentioned, the shiny sunblocker used in a vehicle parked in an unlikely position will bring attention.
      If the mesh screen is used properly it provides another layer of concealment.
      It's great you identified a potential threat to you and monies you carried, as you could easily be targeted for robbery or theft.

      @@MasterSurveillant I never comment on such topics, but was tempted on this one; the industry is flooded with, dare I say, corrupt lawyers, whom inform their clients (claimant/subjects) on what to look for when they are potentially under surveillance and/or how to draw out a surveillant, as I'm confident you know this. These lawyers just want a chunk of the pie-payout when the matter is settled (insurance claims)....so, more and more, claimants are picking off investigators, because they know what to look for, and have been either informed by their lawyers, or learned from watching CZcams videos. I guess CZcams is a double edged sword sort of speak.... good for beginner surveillants, BUT also a great counter tool for fraudulent claimants whose ultimate goal is to evade or draw out the surveillant... just a thought. Don't share all your tools my friend! :-)

      @MasterSurveillant  Před 3 lety +1

      @@mikewood3309 thanks for commenting! There are no secrets if one chooses to seek knowledge or truth. Fortunately most people are very lazy and conditioned to lifestyle and mindset patterns that make this task difficult. I’ve written seven or so books including one on drug investigation that caused some investigators I worked with to question my reasoning and if I was inevitably educating drug traffickers and dealers on how to thwart interdiction efforts. Fact is the drug network can be compromised at so many points and levels because drugs have a point of origin and destination that is fraught with uncontrollable variables. Same with surveillance... a subject cannot take in and process or analyze an entire dynamic environment with any efficiency or effectiveness. Add drugs as a variable and the art becomes much easier. An occupied vehicle will always draw more attention than a seemingly unoccupied vehicle because vehicles are a means of transportation and not a place to spend any length of time just lounging.

      @MasterSurveillant  Před 2 lety

      That can be difficult unless you work as a ticket or reservation agent. Is that what you do?
      Agents are able to see ticket buying activity from persons that are flying from select large cities in the U.S. to Phoenix, AZ for example. Phoenix is a drug source city. So an example would be two individuals that buy tickets online separately within a tight timeline for a very short trip. Let's say the travelers are flying from Flint, MI or Detroit, MI to Phoenix for a 3 day trip. This doesn't mean they are traveling with cash to buy drugs, but would generate a possibility due to patterns that drug couriers fit in. The names of the travelers can then be researched to see if they have a drug nexus, or any criminal involvement in drug crimes, money laundering, etc.
      When the travelers land in Phoenix, AZ they are put under physical surveillance when leaving the gate. I have personally observed where two travelers that booked tickets together remained separated after exiting the plane and acting like they didn't know each other, only to join together at the baggage carousel. This activity is not criminal but suspicious and not normal.
      The individuals then left the baggage carousel together and we consensually contacted them on foot. We asked them questions to establish if deception was present. We asked them if they were traveling with a large amount of cash, which they denied. We then asked if we could look in their bags. They complied. One of the suitcases had a hidden compartment that contained about $30K in cash. Still not a crime. But, they denied having cash with them, so that leads to deception.
      Cash can then be seized only for civil forfeiture if a crime isn't present. If they admitted, "yeah, we were going to buy drugs" it would still be a civil seizure and go to a civil forfeiture hearing. A person has a right to make a case as to why they are travelling with that much money, as it's not a crime. Even though cash being transported in excess of $10K is supposed to be reported.
      I am a firm supporter of a person's right to privacy and constitutional rights. If a person has a plausible story for the cash, I respect that. Often the case is they lie from the start and have no explanation for the money, or what they are buying with it.
      We had a guy coming to Phoenix, AZ once that had about $60K in cash. He was coming here to buy a car. He had everything to make his story plausible. Even photos of the car. Sure, could he have set up this story to cover for a drug buy, sure, but most these couriers don't do that. They don't expect to get caught, because most of them don't.
      Anyway, if cash is seized, you have the opportunity to present your case at a civil hearing. Guess how many show up to the hearing? About 1%. Why? Probably because they know they have no case, and they just want to forget it and move on. A cost of doing business.
      I hope this helped. Incidentally, the 9/11 terrorists purchased their tickets and travelled as a consistent M.O. as drug or money couriers.

      @@csiipahoa2857 It also depends on where you are conducting surveillance. I spent most my career in the Phoenix, AZ valley, which is hot. Sunscreens are common in windshield. Yet, a new car sitting in a neighborhood with a sunscreen can draw attention. Especially if the Surveillant has the sunscreen offset to be able to peak through.
