- Have you ever wanted to play a game on your Z Flip 3 cover screen? How about write an essay or do your finances? No? Well now you can! SamSprung Launcher is an app which replaces Samsung Health and allows you to run any app on your Cover Screen. In this video we'll go through the steps required to get SamSprung Launcher installed and running.

No reboot is necessary when initially loading the widget. The blank screen is actually just the initial load of your content, but a default "loading view" wasn't included with the initial design and other features took priority over going back to implement one. Since realizing there was some confusion about that, a placeholder view is being added.

Thanks for the video! I actually just installed a different app with the same function but it's a paid one. Though there are more functionalities but it's still a bit buggy and you can't customize the apps that you only need. Which is why I like this one better.
BTW, I was also able to make it work too without disabling the lock screen/password protection. Just need to set the side key's long press option to wake bixby. So everytime you click an app just long press the side key and the app will launch.

The bad thing about this widget is that it no longer allows you to block it again because if you do it no longer allows you to open the applications
HEY!!! No need to turn off security! Just set long press for the side button to Bixby and then anytime you want to open an app from the front screen just long press it and then the app you want!

hi, i have installed the application, and followed all steps but still unable to get the wigdet on cover screen
I thought it was a good idea loved the fact of using the front screen for things but the big downfall was not being able to answer messages 😕.
You can use quick replies for things like SMS still but there's nothing with this Launcher as of yet...maybe in a future update..

The problem are fintech and bank apps. They require safety measures such as pin or fingertip lock activated.
I dont understand why this isnt a standard feature by Samsung.
But is there any way to keep the lock function with this feature?

The app is not appering in the cover sceen widgets in settings therefore i can not enable it as one of the widgets, any idea wjat might be wrong?
Extremely Useful. But when I try to use Maps (d be perfect on a motorbike with a quadlock mount) the whole screen is occupied by minutes to destinations and km indications and cannot see the map behind... any guess?
Hmm sadly some apps just aren't designed to be used on such a small screen. You could try another app like Waze (which uses Google Maps in the background) to see if that behaves differently.

No sadly you cannot. You don't get the choice whether the Cover Screen widget is installed when you install Samsung Health so it will just overwrite SamSprung

It doesn't work for me. I downloaded it and gave access to everything, but when I onto cover screen> widgets it wasn't there

Nice video but no lock option is not cool I think. It would have made the device so much more interesting if Samsung had enabled more widgets by deafult.
Agreed. I hope that with software updates they'll allow you to do more 'out the box'. If not on the Flip 3 then perhaps the Flip 4...
You don't need to disable lock. you can just use Bixby to unlock by holding power button then using fingerprint sensor

Sadly I don't know no. I know the latest OneUI update seemed to break it for the Flip3 so not sure if the dev is going to fix it or not...
I downloaded that about a month ago... Really cool concept but my phone froze instantly and I couldn't do anything it also messed with all my Google settings
Might be worth trying it again, it has been getting updates every few days so the issues you were experiencing may have been fixed now 👍
How do u update it? Do we uninstall and uninstall? It doesn't have a an update button, just freezes when I open the notification.

For some reason it if I use apps on the front screen when I go to use the app on be the full screen be it seems to get frozen can't use the app have to do a reboot to fix it

U can use bixby to unlock with fingerprint so no need to remove the lock i have it

I try to activate it on my new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. Unfortunately it doesn't work yet. When I go to "Settings", "Coverscreen" and clicking on the "Widgets" page, I don't see the SamSprung Launcher. I think that I have to wait for a new version that is made for the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4.

I can't get the 3 options in Samsprung which is why it's not working for me or I downloaded another version of it.
Be nice to have a back button so you can go from one app to another
That would be nice - or perhaps a swipe gesture to do it so it doesn't take up any room on the screen
I've tried this 3 times and it didn't work for me. I installed the launcher but it did appear as an option in my cover screen widget. I even restated my phone to see if that was the problem.

I just follow the tutorial with download link below, but i cant , why... in my app drawer just app with name : samsprung widget , not samsung launcher.
So does this mean you can't add a pin to your phone if you want to use this? That makes me a bit nervous if it's ever lost or stolen people can just flip it open and have access to everything?
You can actually do it without disabling your screen lock.. Someone commented how to do it using the Bixby button which I've put in the pinned comment and also in the video description.

It works, but it freezes my regular coverscreen, and I can't use my phone due to it being unresponsive with the app unless I restart the phone.
It doesn't work for my phone. I download it but I can't see the apps In the cover screen widget to set up. So when I go to the cover screen I can't add or see it. I follow the process but can't work. Can you help me?
the issue here is, why would I want to use the front screen if I'm at home? we want the apps to work from the closed screen while we are out. If I'm home, I can just keep the phone opened. So disabling and deleting my biometric security on my phone is unacceptable.
Have a look at the bottom of the video description for a way to keep your screen lock by using Bixby...

do you think samsung will ever release a update for this feature instead of third party downloads i can't use this as i use my phone for banking ect and need the fingerprint to be on and working
You can get around the removing of the pass code by using Bixby (see bottom of video description). As to whether Samsung would ever allow this.. Probably not with the Flip 3 but perhaps with a future Flip...

That's really up to you - you have to weigh up the pros/cons of each one
Hello! I tried the procedure a lot of times but samsprung doesn't show up in the widget option.
Sadly it doesn't currently work with Android 12. Hopefully they'll update it soon 👍

If you're trying to update the app it might be that you have to remove it first and then install the latest version. I hadn't tried that when making this video but that's normally what that message means

I got my z flip 3 in Dec..I istalled Samsprung APK n got my application in gridline on cover screen. However after I update the software to Samsung Android 12 IU4.0, the APK application no longer workable. Thus is there any other application to resolve the issue so that I can still enjoy application grid on cover screen

I love my Z3 but the cover screen keeps going blank without me doing anything. When I tap on it a line appears to the left. That's it. Then sometimes it corrects itself. Help?

There won't be any problems but you do need to disable your lock screen or use the Bixby workaround that others have mentioned in the comments. If you use the disable lock screen method then make sure you re-enable your lock screen when you go out - just in case you lose your phone..

You show how to add widgets on cover screen by the cover screen itself by clicking the + but after clicking on this I get widgets but shows a padlock & saying open device. But you don't do this. How is possible?
This was done on Android 11 which was slightly different so things have probably changed a bit in Android 12. I don't have the phone anymore to check though sadly
As of the new update to the flips it doesn't work anymore for some reason 😕
