HOW TO BOOK TRAIN TICKETS IN JAPAN
There's a JR Pass available from around AUD $490 which allows you to travel around Japan for a specified period of time (only related to JR lines). However, if you're only visiting a few cities in Japan, it might actually be cheaper to purchase train tickets individually. For example, we went from Tokyo to Kyoto to Kinosaki Onsen to Osaka for a total of $240pp by purchasing tickets individually (you'll need to research costs of trains depending on your destinations).
This is where I booked our train tickets:
Tokyo to Kyoto (Shinkansen bullet train): smart-ex.jp/en/lp/app/?_gl=1*.... (must register online, you will get a QR code ticket)
Kyoto to Kinosaki Onsen & Kinosaki Onsen to Osaka (JR West local train): www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ti.... However, if you're booking online, you will need to pick up your physical ticket at a green machine - see more details here: westjr.co.jp/global/en/howto/.... Make sure you pick up your ticket in advance if you can, or at least arrive 1 hour earlier to collect your ticket because the lines can be very long! I waited in line for 40mins to collect our tickets, but luckily we didn't miss our train. Just a tip :)

Wow lovely vlog! Are you filipina?
How did you reserve your train to kinosakionsen? We’re going there in a couple weeks and didn’t realize we’d need special tickets!!
Hey!! Ive added all my train information in the description of f my video 😃😃 I hope that helps!
Hey guys ! Nice video. Do you think you can share the website where you booked Kyoto-kinosaki-osaka trains and the price both ways please? It is mandatory to book or do you think we can try having a seat without reservation? Thanks a lot ❤❤❤❤
hi! of course - see links below. I'm not sure if its mandatory to book. I'm fairly sure you can buy at the station and there were also plenty of free seats on the train in any event. However, i personally like to book in advance for peace of mind :)
