Picking pattern:

Use your thumb to play strings 4, 5 and 6. Use index finger to play 3rd string. Use middle finger to play either 2nd or 1st string. This is the trickiest part to master but keep practising and you'll get it.
How to use these tabs:
Place your left hand fingers according to the chord shapes below. Top number is the 1st string and bottom number is the 6th string. While holding the chord, play the picking pattern as above. Change chords and repeat. The picking pattern remains more or less the same throughout the whole song, so once you've gotten good at the picking pattern, the song becomes pretty easy.

however, in my previous video on how to play "anything", i did go through the picking pattern slowly, so you could refer to that in the meantime. the left hand chords are slightly inaccurate but the right hand is exactly the same

can u add chord names
would u agree that this track requires literal muscle/strength (aside from muscle memory, and on top of it)? like, more than many other tracks? i feel playing her style does require strength which isn't always needed (i don't particularly play tracks using hammers, so maybe a neil young track would require that type of strength too, i dunno) with some other artists material?
yup, as with long stretches, more strength is needed to press on the strings. when I first played this, I thought that the stretches were unnatural too, but I got used to it. and Adrianne uses this shape a lot in her other songs. its actually about the angle of your wrists/hands rather than the strength. she does have really strong fingers tho. I'm not too familiar with Neil Young's music, so I can't comment.

Hmm low action on the guitar helps a lot. And keep your left hand and your forearm in a natural, straight line so there is no twist in your wrist. My posture in this video isn’t the best but u kinda have to find a position that you’re comfortable with. Cheers!!

also she is playing in different key on live (compare to you). Thanks anyway for your work! (as a songwriter I can say - not standart tuning it's way to play easier not vise versa :)))
@@lerapim i get you! the "easier" version without the long stretch on the 4th string was actually how i played it at first; check out my earlier video.
and have a look at the WFUV version, it is in the same key as what im playing in this video. she does the same stretch on the 4th string from 0:23 to 0:29, it just looks a lot more effortless haha
