    I've got the Snow Peak and it comes everywhere with us. The benefits are there for everyone - less wood and leave no trace. I reckon the key is the 'forearm' sized bits of wood, which build the fire between kindling and the long burning hardwood logs - if you get it right, you can use minimal logs and get heat and coals all night. The San Hima bag looks nice - well padded out in the walls - which will help with impact and vibration. The wings are really interesting, I haven't seen this before. Expect they would be chrome plated steel. It seems mighty close to the fire to put my beer or tongs on, may be better suited for strategically cooking/cooling food as you mentioned. Great video! Really enjoyed Dave. Cheers.

      Cheers for the comment Dan, since using the fire pit, I have been blown away with the easy of use. The wings will be the weakest link, but this winter will be a great test for them. I was actually shocked by the bag, the padding does work well as I did not even hear the rattling while driving in Yadboro state forest. Once again thank you for the comment. Cheers Dave

      I will be doing a post winter video. After the full camping season, we will see how it is going.

    I was there for this test run and I was surprised on how good it worked, burned hot and slow and didn’t need heaps of wood to keep it going for a long period of time.
    Also it was easy clean up the next morning.

    • @DestinationOffroad
      @DestinationOffroad  Před rokem +1

      I forgot about the clean up. I brushed it down before recording it but that's it. Was simple, cannot wait to have it in Lithgow this winter.

    Awesome video mate, we have the snowpeak because it was the only one available at that time , but having the ability to have your fire wherever you want without leaving a firescar is fantastic. As you said burn less wood and great for cooking. Great review mate and there version looks fantastic 👍

      Cheers Shad, yeah I have researched the Snow Peak and noticed the differences. But with everything, you will always see the differences. The biggest gain is the fact you do not have to build a fire, or leave a firescar. Gives you more options aswell.

      Cheers Jim, I had to cut out so much content, I went to deep into the research of them. I would say this is the best bang for buck.

    Great video mate, we’ve had the kings fire pit for quiet sometime but it hasn’t been used too often (just depends on what fire pits are available at camp). The San Hima one though seems to be a lot better size and quality so will be sure to check it out

      I have been looking at these fire pits for almost a year. This one had everything I wanted. From the side wings to the base, it is more refined so it was a no brainer.

    I've never been a fan of fire pits , but that is not bad .

      Neither have I, We won a fire pit a couple of years ago, and thought it would work out camping, but it did not push heat out. So, we tried a cheap kings version and that was to small and starved the fire. This one was the same as the darche except different brand stamps, and honestly, we were blown away. For a family or small group, you could use it easily. Any more then 4-5 people, I would go to traditional fire in the ground.

    Looks like a good unit, would be great if you could run a rotisserie on it too!!

    End up buying one of these today, as where I be going camping in a few months time there's very limited fire pits for everyone to use.

      @@DestinationOffroad nice, might look into getting one once i paid off couple bills. Will come in handy when i go to the Murry River to cook breakfast or small meals without lighting up a bigger fire and waste wood.
