I really wish this sport was more popular. For older dogs, younger dogs, or owners who want to do a dog sport like agility but don’t want the demands of agility, this is a great option.

I'm puzzled: I'm being taught to handle the whole course from a small box, which my feet mustn't leave. Is this just a French rule?

In the UK hoopers is very much seen as an all inclusive sport that doesn’t rule out those who cannot distance handle, but still rewards the distance handling (in different ways varying between organisation’s) often in a way that changes the placings the more distance handling you do. But it’s very much not ruled out to run here.
We like to think of all partnerships from the deaf dogs who cannot hear their handler to run distance to the children who just like to run.
      I hope that clarifies :)

In the UK, distance handling is usually rewarded more. However, not everyone is able to distance handle and it is an inclusive sport in the UK.
