I love that exo armor that the Hearthguard wear. It lines up really well with the lore of terminator armor.
Horus Heresy lore says that terminator armor is based on heavy suits designed to work in the most inhospitable environments, think the inside of a nuclear reactor. This suit looks like it's from a similar design philosophy and might even share a lot of the tech as the Imperium's terminator suits.
Absolutely. We have very similar reasons to live these suits.

These guides are amazing. I'm actually kind of tempted to get some of the LoV now. Lol last time you had me tempted like this, I started collecting 'Nids; and now I have two squads of Termagaunts, 2 of pure strain Genestealers, a broodlord, Parasite of Mortrex, some 'Thropes, and Hormagaunts.....this isn't gonna end well for my wallet :D

Thanks for the tutorial! I'm currently painting a Ymyr Conglomerate force and finished with a few test models.
I used Blood Angels red at first but it looked more orange than what I wanted it to be so I ended up going with Flesh Tearers Red instead. I would like to go back and paint a model with this tutorial because it looked like your technique would have toned down that orange hue with the additions that you layered on it.

I really like your guides, I'm following this step by step for my Votann but enjoy just watching your other painting vids for sets I don't own. The only bit of feedback I'd give is please show a bit more of the models during the step by step. Or maybe a montage of the steps at the end, just so when people like me are copying you we can see the whole model as a reference.
I like the idea but you would be surprised how much extra time that would add to a video. I almost double to. And People click on short videos to help them paint. It’s a crazy thing.

I'm enjoying these videos, the leagues really seem painter friendly. Which I think is a very strong point for them, especially if you're learning edge highlighting the big edges definitely will help with that.

I've painted one Hearth kin for GWs mini of the month thing. They're a dream to paint! They're both packed with details and fast to get a done. They've struck a happy medium with these guys.
Getting a trusted white is so important. I personally like to use the titanium white from Schmincke which is an artist acrylic. It needs some fooling around to get used to it though so I can totally see people using mini specific ones even if it is only for convenience

However, I thought the blue glow was a bit out of place. A yellow or orange might compliment it a little better 🤔
Ye you mite be rite. Unfortunately everything I’ve done so far has been the blue so I need to keep it going to match.
Would you add an edge highlight to the armour panels? And would you use an orange paint for that kinda situation?

Whats the reason for doing black undercoat followed by the grey seer undercoat.
Black is meant to get every bit of the model. And the grey so not. It’s more of a highlight spray. So if you just did the grey the bits you missed wouldn’t allow paint to stick. Does that make sence?

With a spray can. Just chaos black and grey seer rattle cans.

Astrogranite debris contrast over the top with black templar. Drybrush dawnstone then administratum grey. Rim black. Glad you like it.
