This was so informative! I don't usually lick my lips, but I didn't know about the petroleum thing! Going to have to look through my lip balms and toss the ones with petroleum in them!! You are so right about staying hydrated throughout the day. I really love the Fresh sugar lip balm, it's my favorite one!

Soooo... I know I'm like four years late but ima ask. If you use a good nourishing lip balm then it actually HEALS your lips so whenever your lips are bare it doesn't feel as if you've just licked them? I want the best lips I can with the least amount of products if possible. The way I see it, if I can fix my lips for good then if an apocalypse ever happened I wouldn't need to worry about the lack of lip balms lol
If you use pure lanolin, (my favourite is lanolips 101 ointment) regularly instead of other lip balms with nasties in them, as well as drinking lots of water your lips will be nourished and with only one product.
@@Katyclucas Thank you! I will look into buying that. I've only been using petroleum jelly and coconut oil since it's what I've got lying around the house.
Is the brand Beez wax a good product. I can actually read and understand every product listed.

@@Katyclucas the brand is Burt's Bees the ingredients are
sunflower seed oil, coconut oil, beeswax, Castor seed oil, Aroma flavor, lanolin, shea butter, cocoa seed butter, strawberry seed oil, tocopherol, rebaudioside, soybean oil, citral, citronellol, geraniol, limonene, linalool, natural flavor*
in that order.
That actually sounds pretty good! no alcohol or petroleum! Lanolin will definitely moisturise..it might not have a long lasting affect as i find the oils earlier on the list like coconut oil and castor oil are moisturising but quick to come off the lips. Its definitely a good day balm and maybe just use something like 101 ointment by lanolips at night :)
Haaaay Katy, ok, so, what about rosehip oil? Is this a thing you can expect to moisturise, or does it dry lips out too? I can't work it out: rosehip softens my cheeks so nicely, but it seems to do squat to my chops. Haaaalp.
Rose hip can be really nice for bringing moisture for your face and maybe just to temporarily rub into your lips, but what it doesn't have is staying power. Lanolin is what sheep excrete into their wool so they stay water proof in storms. So for us it creates a great barrier on our lips and will last a long time. Hopefully see you soon girl! P.s make sure you buy only lanolips because the creator Kirsten is lovely and has a great relationship with her sheep shearers..AND a written agreement that they treat the sheep with care.

Lanolips?
What country are you from? it's an australian product. You may not have heard of it if you're from overseas
The product you recommend better not be some glossy colored makeup type shit. I've tried fucking everything and I'm a guy and I can't barely talk to people or eat or brush my teeth cuz they're so fucking dry. I've been drinking water by the fucking barrel practically. Sick of this shit!!!!
GT -R the lanolin I recommended is not makeup but it is sticky so I would put it on at home before bed, I have actually spoken to the maker of lanolips about making a product specifically for guys but the problem is the reason it works is because it's pure lanolin and lanolin by nature is sticky, if you add stuff to it to make it not sticky those other ingredients might dry your lips out like alcohol etc. So if I were you I would use lanolin like a treatment at night and follow my other tips like not licking lips etc. Xx
