One of the most significant things about Kapunda is the connection to Sid Kidman. Kapunda featured often in his biography especially since Sid lived there and sold a lot of horses and other stock there through the sale yards. A lot of stock would have been transported by rail in the old days. He always attended the annual Kapunda Horse sales and entertained the crowd with funny comments and tales, as best I can recall from reading his Bio several years ago. Brilliant man and a great philanthropist. A really great Australian.
I recommend his Bio to anyone who may even vaguely interested in such things, it was a real eye opener into the mans life and legacy. Thanks for the tour. Cheers.

My parents ran the Railway Refreshments Room at Kapunda for a time. They sold it around 1961 when I was 7 or 8 years old. I still remember it well. Dad baked the pasties and they got the pies from the local baker. It was a thriving place back then😊. Regards Mark

Omg you're a local Mark .. cool ..was the refreshments room on the main platform, the passenger Platform...which is now part of the hotel ? .. can only imagine what it was like in the day. ..would have been nice to have a feed before getting on the train ..I grew up in Sydney as I have said in my videos..I would go to the refreshments building in the middle of Strathfield station and get myself a hot meat pie...omg those were the days ..yum..😋😋 thanks for the Awsome comments.. I do hope you liked our video.. and hope you check out our videos too . Thank you so much .. tc Bridgette

Not quite a local now. We moved to the upper south east in 1963 where Mum and Dad bought and developed a 1000 acres scrub block into a grazing property. I now live at Gawler. In regard to the refreshment rooms, they were on the platform, along with the stationmaster's office and ticket office. The little corrugated office on the end of the Goods Shed would have been for the Goods Clerk. It's hard to imagine the large number of staff employed on the Railway at that time. The line also branched at Eudunda to Robertstown as well as Morgan. Glad you enjoyed my comment. Regards Mark
