I just got a new dama today (Haley Bishoff mod from KUSA), and love it, but you guys supply better strings and bearings, so I took a string/bearing from my natty splice dama, and now this thing is near perfection (ken is a tiny bit short, but otherwise love it). Quick tip: if you have Braces and have the things to get floss under your braces you can use that as a stringing tool

What if my sorato has no tightness to it? Mine came undone and now whenever I try landing any cup tricks it’ll slide a bit.
You can try adding a small piece of Double Sided Tape or a piece of a Sticky Note between the cups and spike before you press them back together, that might help some! 💚
Ever since I've done this, my serato will not stay tight on my spike. Do you know how I can fix this?
Hey Connor! There's lots of ways you can fix loose cups, we recommend trying a small piece of a sticky note or a piece of double sided tape between the sarado and sword when you put them back together. This small amount of adhesive and extra layering should help keep the cups more snug without being too permanent, like super glue or wood glue.

anyone else having a problem where your string is stuck in your kendama? i have the cups off and the string wont come out of my spike piece.
my string broke inside the serado. The sting is stuck in the tiny hole in the serado, it broke right at the knot, so it is stuck there and I can't get it out, please help. The kendama is a yomega pro kendama if that helps at all. Thank you (I think the string might be glued to the serado)

Yo what knot do you use?
You can use any knot you want, but we recommend a Slip knot for an easy removal later it you want to!
And slide the bead down for the new knot!!! X)

My kaiju bead keeps coming off my string and the string keeps getting caught in the tama hole/comes out of the tama hole.
Also I can’t get my kaiju apart to restring. It’s like it’s glued? I even put the cups between my feet and pulled with my hands on the sorado. Still nothing.

Yes! It’s hard to fit it, but it works
The small hole in the sarado is unnecessary and introduces further weakness, in an already weak area. The older way is still best. With a vary sharp knife tip or narrow chisel (~5mm) make a small channel in the ken, parallel to it's length, towards the kensaki, slightly more-shallow than the string's cross-section and about 7 mm long (depending on the size of the sarado). Following otherwise modern instructions for assembly, the string should now emerge from between the ken and the sarado, similar to originals (which have no small holes at all). This will house the string tightly. Ideally, the channel will not show, when assembled. This method adds no weakness, as the channel exists above an already existing hole. Of course, no small holes is best.
P.S. ~ Even though it is easier to make and assemble a kendama without those small holes, I find it more challenging to explain in text alone (I did try though). So, rather than confuse anyone who reads my comment, I opt not to post it. But if you want words + pictures, you can try emailing me. Address is in channel info.
