כמידי שנה נערכה ההילולא המרכזית לכבוד רבי ישמעאל כהן גדול בהשתתפות רבנים חשובים, אומנים ואישי ציבור, שע"י מוסדות מעיין התורה בראשות הגאון הגדול רבי אליהו מלכא שליט"א רבה של העיר כרמיאל, הנעימו את הערב אמן הרגש העולמי מוטי שטיינמץ, מקהלת ידידים , גדול הזמר האנדלוסי משה לוק, הזמר אבי בן ישראל והזמר פייטן יהודה מלכא.
הגאון הגדול הרב אליהו מלכא שליט"א רב העיר כרמיאל וראש המוסדות נשא דברי פתיחה לכבוד המעמד המיוחד וקיבל בברכה את הגאון הינוקא כשאמר "זכינו הערב בכפליים, גם להשתתף בערב הקדוש הזה לכבוד התנא רבי ישמעאל וגם זכינו שהגיע אלינו גאון ישראל אשר נהירין לו כל שבילי אורייתא רבינו שלמה יהודה שליט''א.
הגאון הינוקא ברך את המשתתפים בהילולא הקדושה ונשא דברים על מעלת רבי ישמעאל כהן גדול שהיה ממשיך את ברכת ה' לעם ישראל וזכה עד שהקב"ה בעצמו ביקש ממנו שיברכו, וכך הייתה עבודת הצדיקים שבכל דור להמשיך את הברכה בפועל לעם ישראל, והברכה הגדולה היא האחדות כפי שחותמים בתפילה 'המברך את עמו ישראל בשלום', והרמז לזה שהשם הקדוש המוזכר בגמרא שביקש מר' ישמעאל לברכו הוא 'אכתריאל' שעולה בדיוק בגימטריה 'כהן לוי ישראל' (662) לרמז על האחדות.
בסיום הערב נצפה רגע מרגש במיוחד כאשר הגאון הינוקא ניגון על פסנתר את הניגון 'תניא אמר רבי ישמעאל' יחד עם מוטי שטיינמץ ולקול שירת הקהל הרחב.
